Nicely done out place, perfect for a quiet drink and a pleasant change from the usual pub offerings. Unsurprisingly not the cheapest, but well worth it.

This is the third time I have visited Purl and each time has been outstanding. Most of the staff are extremely nice, although on the first occasion the manager was a little rude (the other times he wasn't there). The second time I went for the cocktail masterclass with the amazing Franco. I have been taught how to make classic... More

This tiny place, in the heart of super-hip Marylebone, manages to trump the (many excellent) neighbourhood cocktail joints by offering a truly experience. With bar and restaurant chains dominating the West End, as the government freezes out small businesses with the ludicrous new business rates, an establicjment offering an truly original, personal experience is absolute gold dust. Purl is based... More

I have to agree with the majority of the reviews on here - the cocktails are fun, novelty, and interesting, and the menu and concept is fun. Decor is lovely, there are lots of nice booths and corner tables. However, we visited Purl on a Friday night and it was absolutely dead- only about four people in there aside from... More

Cocktail fans will like this place, tasty concoctions with a bit of theatrics. Only minus is that the cocktail menu is a bit short. The place is a cozy speakeasy suitable for dates as well as groups of friends.

My wife and I booked a couple of hours for pre-Dinner drinks, staff were welcoming and service good. The cocktails are served with a quirky theme, dry ice, smoke and exploding balloons which was different and added to the experience. However more style than substance and one or two of the drinks we had were a little watery and lacked... More

This place does nice cocktails and has a good atmosphere. We live in Marylebone and have been meaning to pop by for some time. Unfortunately as some of the other reviews have mentioned we felt so rushed. We had only booked an hour slot knowing that we were only there for a couple of drinks before our dinner reservation nearby.... More

Dark and atmospheric warren of a cellar bar tucked underneath a sandwich shop in Blandford St, Marylebone. It’s busy, even on weekday evenings, but we were able to squeeze in without a reservation. The whole bar has something of a speakeasy theme. We were shown to a chandeliered alcove under a brick arch. It smelt a little dank, leather bench... More

The doorman was nice enough to get us seats at the bar - a little loud as you are on top of the bartenders but impressive to watch them work. Its very dark and atmospheric way to start the evening (not an issue in winter). Not cheap but the cocktails are unique, beautifully presented and taste great. Not bad before... More

Beautiful hidden place in Marylebone, antique classic place with piano play. Very creative cocktails, each designed differently and tastes really nice. Good for a chill evening with your friends or for a special date.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
