I don't normally give five stars for anything. I've never before given five stars to a restaurant, especially one that hasn't had particularly good reviews in recent times. But the evening meal I enjoyed with my wife and two friends at the Gilbert Scott in early December was exceptional. The restaurant deserves top rating. First is the location. If you... More

Lavish surroundings , delicious food but evening was let down by very poor service from start to finish ! Cocktails took half an hour to be delivered to the table after chasing twice ( they had been delivered to the wrong table ). Tap water poured into glass of sparkling water , meals placed in front of incorrect diners, and... More

We were taken there for lunch last Sunday. Lovely old fashioned surroundings and helpful staff. I don't like writing bad reviews but this is an exception. I could not swallow the roast beef which was embarrasing. Like old boot leather. The soup was an unpleasant thick gooey tasteless mess. The best part of the meal were the Yorkshire puds. Will... Having visited one of Marcus Wareing's other restaurants Tredwell's on previous occasions which I can not fault, my husband an I thought we would try Gilbert Scott's for our anniversary on the 26th November. To say we were disappointed is a huge understatement. I find it difficult to believe Marcus would want his name attached to this place. We started... More

Travelling by myself is boosted by getting to eat in great restaurants. The service here was excellent, food was divine, and the price not as much as I thought it would be. Well def go back!

We hired the private dining room to entertain a small group of business clients who support our business throughout the year. The service was terrible - we spent a great deal of the evening trying to find our waiter to ask for more wine, water and cutlery. In the end we sourced our own cutlery from the dining room and... Had a Pre Christmas dinner with two girlfriends last night. We had the set menu and the food was outstanding! The staff were very attentive and professional. Superb champagne and wine during the dinner, could not have been better. Will be going back with my husband in the New Year. Stunning building and dining hall, lots of atmosphere and beautifully... We were a party of 4 booked for lunch today from the main menu no deal involved. We had a very enjoyable lunch...food good, service good, however my gripe is that having spent £85 per head the bill detailed service at the now customary 12.5% but then added an £8 cover charge, that is not acceptable. I have eaten at... More

My partner and I both needed to be in London overnight due to work commitments so deicded to dine at The Gilbert Scott. I had been there before some years ago and remembered being impressed with the food. We arrived about 15 minutes early but were taken straight to our table. For starter we both had the chicken liver &... More

My main gripe with this restaurant is that most of the tables for two are VERY close together. They're clearly trying to cram too many people into a limited space. The result: I was closer to the people on either to side than I was to my wife across the table. In this situation you are vulnerable to any loudmouth... More
