This restaurant stayed open for us 1 hour later than their closing time! We were greeted with big smiles and wonderful food - the tandoori chicken and lamb were mouthwatering and reasonably priced. Syed, one of the waiters, was unbelievably amicable, and the owner Adil was happy to recommend dishes that were customized to our preferences. I highly recommend Shah Tandoori, both for the food and the people who make the experience all the better!

Great food, good value, generous portions, but most of all outstanding service! The lovely chap who served us couldn’t have been more helpful, even gave us complimentary Sambuca’s (very generous measures), after the meal with our bill. We both ordered dishes that were not actually on the menu and they cooked them perfectly without any extra charges. We’ll definitely be back if in the area.

Went for lunch last Wednesday — the waiter was very friendly and was very helpful with the menu, advising that they offer any of the dishes at any level of heat, so I could get a tikka masala with a madras level of heat. The food was presented beautifully, was served quickly, and tasted great. I even got a free poppadom which was appreciated :) The mango lassi was also very tasty and not too sweet.

Was looking forward to having good Indian food (one of the types of foods everyone raves about being amazing in London) and was disappointed. This place was advertised on a London Travel social media account and it had great reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor but the reviews are not accurate. When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant (which should have been the first red flag). The restaurant smelled like humidity and the chairs were uncomfortable. We ordered pretty basic dishes (chicken tikka masala and lamb pasanda), cheese naan, and rice. The waiter could not help us with deciding how much to order based on portion size. We were 3 women and he recommended 3 orders of naan (way too much) and 2 orders of rice (not enough) for the 3 meals. The tikka masala sauce tasted like marinara and the lamb pasanda lacked flavor and was too sweet. In addition, the lamb was tough. We also had to pay for the crisps and sauces that they bring you while you wait for your meal that are usually complimentary. Every time someone walked by the waiter basically ran out and tried to lure them in. I am not really sure how this place has such good reviews but I definitely do not recommend it if you are used to good Indian food.

My hubby and I were visiting London for the weekend, and as we love Indian food we decided, based on the reviews, to book this restaurant via The Fork. On arrival the place was pretty empty and the staff were haggling people in off the streets which was a little disconcerting! We were shown the table and the sales pitch began! I ordered large glass of white wine and without realising, a screw top bottle was opened and glass filed in front of me and then bottle left on the table! (First con). We orders poppadoms and 4 arrived cold with a very small chutney tray. We chose starters and main, my hubby asked for chicken chat starter and chicken vindaloo main and was then persuaded to try one of their ‘signature’ dishes of chicken vindaloo cross with shashlik! (Con number two as £7 more!) Whilst eating poppadoms’s the starters arrived. My starter of paneer was tasteless and burnt and hubby’s chicken chat came in a wrap! (Con number three as it cost more.) My King prawn Shashlik still had all the shells on, and again very tasteless. I had ordered bindi Bhaji and they tried to fob us off with mushroom because they didn’t have any!!! My hubby’s signature dish was a few bits of chicken, tomato and onion which looked awful. He returned it and was finally given a vindaloo that, we feel, they purposely made exceedingly hot!!! All the time my wine glass was being refilled without me realising and hubby given more beer without asking. In the end the meal cost nearly £100 with service charge (the bottle had cost £28.50 which they put in a small brown paper bag when we left) and then they questioned, quite rudely, why we didn’t want to leave a tip as well. All during the meal the waiters continued to haggle customers in off the street. On top of that they ‘refused our booking’ via The Fork so we didn’t even get our reward Yums points! Please stay away!

Terrible is an understatement. The samosa chart was a tiny single filo samosa which you can buy 30 for£5. The cold tinned chickpeas curry that it was served with it was luke warm with raw whole spices like black cardamom and cloves. The paneer tikka was 1 inch colored slice of paneer which was further sliced down( & colored red )into 4 burnt, yet STILL tastless and served with a wetned iceberg lettuce that a slug would turn it's nose up at. Asked for a little bit of yougrt and got charged for raita. Masala chia was garam masalla-ish tea. If they can't getta a cuppa chai right there's no hope. The 2 aloo pranthas that were ordered were poorly made almost dough on one side and a smear of lumpy tayto on the other... Total cost after they 'took' the tasteless paneer off was still £26.13!!! Avoid Avoid Avoid!! The sauces that were smeared on the sides of the dishes (🤮)...Do Not make our mistake, save yourselves. Rodent body fluids would at a guess be more flavoursome & probably more nutritious.

Feeling bed writing this as I have never given a bad review before. I have tried many Indian places but this one has to be at the bottom. So I arrived when the whole restaurant was empty at around 7pm. I was given the table adjacent to the front door so I witnessed something very unusual here. The Restaurant guy Slowly the place started getting filled with people. I ordered soup, Chef Special Meat platter…..Price seemed reasonable until the food arrived. Serving was quite small, which was a good thing I guess as I went to the nearby Indian place for main meal ( The taste of India - which I would definitely avoid as well ). When the place was full and I had just put my cutlery down, the guy put down the bill and asked if I wanted to pay as if they just wanted me out of there ASAP. While I was waiting for the food and eating, the guy was harassing (figuratively ) people and forcing people to come inside as if they were going to miss the meal of a lifetime. Keep moving folks… this one will leave a bad after taste.

We went there based on the fact that this place came highly recommended. I'll start with the positives; generally helpful staff, although they did seem very concerned with talking us into buying more expensive dishes than we wanted to, and decent food. However, when we arrived, they seemed to know nothing of our booking, and were told to head to the nearby pub, "and I'll collect you in half an hour". We finally got seated 90 minutes after we were meant to be, after nobody came to find us, and we had to go back. Staff did at least offer us free beers, while we waited for a group who were taking their time to leave the table that we had been promised. The meal went smoothly, and we were told poppadoms would be on the house, since we'd been kept waiting. However, when we got the bill, it seemed we had been charged for everything, including the items that we were told would be free of charge. Basically, if you do go here, expect good food, but also expect high prices.

Great food, one of the best dishes ( Karai lamb) I had recently suggested by the friendliest staff, Raj. Raj has been very professional and friendly dealing with customers inside and outside of the restaurant bantering with the by-passers. He was great to talk about the history of some of the dishes and to suggest great dishes if you are not sure what to have. Thank you Raj! Excellent!

Best place on Drummond Street for an old fashioned curry - Vegetable Thali allowed me to sample a range of dishes and were all lovely which is rare...particularly the sag aloo and lentils. Naan, pilau rice were also good. My Partner had a chicken dish which was also good. Service friendly and attentive and they even threw in an extra poppadaum.

Awesome experience, great service, amazing food. Had two tandoori dishes (king prawns, garlic lamb) and a great king prawn starter. Very rich deep flavour, you could really appreciate the slow cooking (I'd guess, it was spot on regardless). The garlic lamb was a bit more black than I usually like it, but very full in flavour. The waiter spotted that it might be a bit dry and offered a sauce on the side which really completed the dish. The king prawns might be the best I've had, anywhere, just pure delight. Ended up having a drink more than I planned (+ a little something on the house), but that was all due to the nice atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended!

The Shah tandoori restaurant has reopened. We visited within the past week. We have dined here on many occasions over the years. Upon entering the restaurant I was immediately drawn to the crisp white table linen, sparkling wine glasses and shining cutlery that adorned the dining tables. The restaurant was fairly quiet. The food was of an excellent standard, generous portions and the price was about right. There was a good choice of menu to suit all appetites. The wine menu offered a fairly good choice and reasonable in price. You’ve tried the rest, now try the best. You will not be disappointed.

Although Drummond St is not the hub of Indian restaurants it use to be it is great to see places like Shah Tandoori and Drummond Villa delivering good quality food at reasonable prices. Our Sunday evening visit to the former found a quiet restaurant - we have been on a busy Saturday - so we could take our time. We had a shared starter of king prawns followed by a Sag Prawn and a Chicken Balti with accompanying breads and rice. Everything we ate was freshly cooked and enjoyable. The damage including a couple of Cobra beers a reasonable £64. Service was friendly - look forward to going back.

My usual fave Indian restaurant was full so I decided to try Shah tandoori with a friend from Budapest and boy were we treated to some of the most delicious Indian food in London. The fish tikka was especially good as were the tandoori prawns. Also unusually they had Dahl makani on the menu which is my favourite dahl and it was delicious. We also enjoyed a sizzling paneer shashlick which is one of my favourite dishes and it was superb! Our waiter Hussain was friendly, efficient and gave us impeccable service throughout the meal. My friend from Budapest loved the food and the restaurant which is a cut above the usual Drummond street places when it comes to decor and ambience.
