Went here for lunch after reading about tis place in a book. It was well worth the bus and two trains it took to get there and for the same trip home. The food was hot and tasty and served without any delay. They had two real ales on as well as a good range of bottled beers. The staff... More

We dropped in here for a quick drink after visiting a friend in hospital. We were served quickly and the bar staff were attentive and friendly. Pricey!

I first cast eyes on my future wife here 30 years ago when she was training at Kings and I was a committed beer drinker and rascal, the pub was a Firkin at the time and full of rowdy students, cigar smoke and interesting women. We are still together and travelled back to London and in time to visit the... More

Fascinating building that must have been part of the station once. Nice atmosphere. Lovely staff. Good food. Good service. Warm. Handy. Would go again. We had a snack from an interesting and wholesome menu, with some appetising mediterranean items as well as UK ones. Free taste of Bloody Mary.

First visit and not disappointed. This was Boxing Day - very quiet, but the food we had was well served and delicious. An interesting old station building conversion to gastropub.

Hello, Thank you for your positive review. We do tend to be quite quiet over the holidays as many of our customers visit on their way home from work but I am glad you still had an enjoyable visit. I hope to see you again soon. Many thanks Emily Mason General Manager More

I once visited The Phoenix when it was a famous Firkin pub which it should have remained, a true pub without the want to be gastro. I decided to have a few pints before going home last Friday so I walked from the Walworth Road where I work as I got quite excited from past memories but from the point... More

Hello Andrew, I am so sorry that your visit was not what you expected. I do not have a manager called Ellie and I myself would never speak to a guest in such a way at all so I am not sure what happened when you visited. We also sell at least a hundred pints of Camden Pale Ale a... More

Came with a few friends for a Sunday Roast. I am vegetarian and was told after sitting down and ordering drinks that there was no vegetarian roasts left. I asked if I could have all the trimmings but with a side of cauliflower cheese or macaroni cheese. They refused, saying all the roast dinners were strictly portioned and this wouldn't... More

Hi Nadia, thank you for your review. We always take all feedback very seriously and I am really disappointed that you felt the service was not up to scratch on your recent visit. I do need to clear up the confusion over ID. We are owned by large UK pub company whose policy it is that we only accept UK... More

We chose the Phoenix for our wedding reception venue after trying out many in the area. Emily & the team helped us plan out the details and went over and above our expectations. They were extremely accommodating and made sure we had the perfect day. Our guests and ourselves loved the food, especially the pie which had rave reviews from... More

A Denmark Hill pub of mythical proportions. It's not often a pub can make the earth move. Abuzz with friendly banter and offbeat charm, you'll find The Phoenix benefits from more than just good vibrations from the throng of trains below. Like its mythical namesake, this quirky venue rose from the flames of the great Denmark Hill Station fire. Remnants of the building's original character blend effortlessly with the cosy furnishings, resulting in a look as sublimely eclectic as our speciality drinks list, and as timeless as the defunct yet impressive station clock hanging pride of place from our high-vaulted ceilings.
