We were in the area for the Marathon and walked a little further away from the already crowded bars, restaurants and pubs in the immediate area and came across this nice restaurant. They served breakfast all day and had quite an extensive food menu and drinks menu. I ate a full English which was good and plentiful. My husband had... More

We visited here as lunchtime treat for our daughter - place was full so we sat up top near the bar area and had no service. We found some menus and were told we could order at the bar which was manned by two guys more wrapped up in their own worlds than having any sense of customer awareness or... More

London - so many places to eat, how can you choose? You don't want to make a mistake, so if you haven't checked out the reviews what else can you do? Firstly, is it busy - yes. Secondly how does it look - good decor, clean? - yes. Thirdly, comprehensive menu with specials? - yes. Lastly, is it expensive? -... More

Beautiful décor and good service. The menu is good but not amazing. Food is average and lacking in the wow factor. I ate the cod which was well cooked but a little on the bland side. My side order of green beans was cooked well, but that's just what they were plain green beans. The music in this place is... More

When I turned up for a meeting over coffee this Thursday the person I was meeting said "I don't like going here if I can help it, the service is the worst in London". I was not disappointed! Large queues around the door but lots of free tables, couldn't get a menu for 10 mins, never came back to ask... More

Went there on Thursday for the first time, expected it to be busy seeing as it was the Bank Holiday weekend and it didn't disappoint. Quite a large venue with food and drinks served upstairs and drinks downstairs. A nice venue with a bubbly vibe about it, drinks were a bit pricey - as you'd expect based on it's location... More

Myself and a few works friends came The Folly unplanned on a Friday night. Tt was one of the best customer experiences we've ever had (and especially for a Friday night in the City). I believe the two ladies looking after us were called Laura and Nicole. They were fantastically accommodating and really did go out of their way to... More

3rd visit to The Folly this year. the service was unbelievably slow and completely haphazard. Waiter had to check 3 times that i didn't want my Scotch Egg starter with my roast beef main! The beef, when it eventually appeared, was grey, curled up at the ends and at least 50% fat. No way it should ever have left the... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
