The beer is alright and quite cheap. The problem is the service as mentioned by other people before. I went with my wife and after 20 mins we were sitting on the bench the owner asked us in a bad way if we didn't want more beer(we already have ordered 2 and spent 8 pounds). We said we were alright... More

If you are a foodie this is not your place. They don't serve food. What they serve is a huge slice of English hospitality, friendly comaradarie and lots of good ale. There is a food brunch on Sundays and there are frequent jam sessions, dj events and reggae. The best feature of the place are the locals and like minded... More

Tucked away, a nice mix of locals, visitors and staff we had a great time in there. A pub with a piano with locals who can actually play it, it's a little glimpse of what London boozers used to be like.

Been coming here for many years and never had a bad time. Owned by a group of locals who run it now as a co-operative its distinguishing features remain the same: an eclectic mix of people , a fabulous juke box don't expect anything from the last twenty years on it, good beers and great conversation. Never managed to stay... More

This place has potential. An independent pub with a cozy interior in busy Kings Cross, full of chains and tourist pubs. However, something is off with this place. Might be the staff, which are not very friendly, or the annoying young professional types who come here. I don't know, I just don't really feel like coming back there. I don't... More

Not a bad pub although the photo above must be old as the chairs and décor look nothing like this now. Went there Saturday afternoon and spent a lot of money until the co-owner took a dislike to us and decided that he only wanted locals there. A friend of mine jokingly PRETENDED to turn on the jukebox. The owner... More

Near Kings Cross, this is what local pubs used to be like. One room, a small bar serving a mix of beers and lagers. There is nothing clever or pretentious about The King Charles. It is a pub the Orwellian Proletariat of 1984 would recognise instantly. I thoroughly recommend to you if want a beer and a chat.

Went after work, passed on the bus home so decided to call in. The mix of clientele was good. Business, student, and locals - no real evidence of tourists. It was friendly and lively atmosphere. Prices reasonable and if you really want to see a local London pub I think this is it. No food, probably crisps to eat -... More

A real proper English pub with no silly frills. Great! Good beer and staff. A survival well worth visiting.

A real gem that has so far withstood the relentless onslaught of gentrification and homogenisation of this party of London. This is what a pub should be like. Intimate, eclectic, friendly, comfortable.... Live music often plays and the ales offered are great. Not extortionately priced at all and very welcoming staff. There is absolutely nothing not to like.
