This was another restaurant that we ate at, based on Tripadvisor reviews. And once again they did not steer us wrong. It was just around the corner from our hotel - and reviews looked good, so we tried it. Food was really tasty. We all...More

I have lived in Asia for 18 years and have learned to set my expectations low when sampling Asian food outside the region (with the exception of outstanding British subcontinental curries...). Unami was better than I expected. The Thai green curry was an adequate portion...More

My husband and I stumbled upon Umami one evening, and we’re so glad we decided to give it a try! Bernadetta was incredibly attentive and offered amazing menu suggestions. We loved everything we ordered, and the complimentary prosecco was an added bonus. We would definitely...More

We dined here twice for convenience since we were staying at the Crowne Plaza. Food was generally good though flavouring was a hit and miss on some of the dishes. Portions were small in comparison to the price. Service was slow and seriously lacking. During...More

Enjoyed a casual dinner here - and the ambiance is really good too. Very tasty food and reasonably priced too.

overpriced with slow service. No spice added to dish although when asked they did give us extra peppers to add. The fragrant rice was very fishy tasting. Overall we suggest going elsewhere

We chose to have lunch at this restaurant after seeing the Trip Advisor reviews but it was so disappointing that I’m wondering why it’s got so many good reviews. They didn’t have 2 of their signature dishes which we ordered, this was a bad start!...More

South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque
white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's
easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with
superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and
Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely
child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to
mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall)
such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming

Well it depends what you order. Your meal can be as cheap as £12-15 for a one meal dish like Curry Laksa or Mee Goreng.

Umami, the newest addition to the Kensington & Chelsea restaurant scene, is perfectly located on Cromwell Road, just around the corner from Gloucester Road underground station. Umami (the word literally means " A pleasant savoury taste" and is the 5th basic taste after sweet, salty, bitter and sour), offers a range of authentic dishes from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam as well as some newer signature dishes. Many dishes are available in two sizes "Tasting Portions" and "Sharing Portions", encouraging guests to share and try many of the unique flavours, whilst the set Tasting Menus offer an effortless way to dine your way around the South China Sea. All this can be enjoyed in an informal yet stylish contemporary setting with design influenced by a Feng Shui Master from Singapore. Background music featuring jazz and classics from the swing era adds to the chic atmosphere of Umami. Private groups up to 90 can also be catered for.
