The food is amazing, the staff is attentive and welcoming, the furniture is well kept and elegant. It is a wonderful place, with an exceptional afternoon cream tea.

OK there was a special event in the cocktail bar to which we were not invited. OK we were not staying for the evening, nor did we have a dinner reservation. We simply went for an early evening cocktail. Don't. The Irish barman was rude. Worse he was inept at making a simple drink. A Mojito is a thing of... More

I'm often in London and I always have afternoon tea: this was absolutely my best ever. It is served in a very traditional and impeccable fashion. You start with a glass of champagne followed by savoury and sweet delicacies: scones are mouthwatering and so are the pastries. Can't wait to go there again next time I'm in London!

It is so delicious! The afternoon tea is so scrummy and the staff are lovely and attentive without being overbearing. It is pricey but worth every penny for a special treat!

This was a great afternoon experience; fantastic surroundings, attentive staff and quality food and drink (the tea and Bollinger!). From the moment you walk in and meet the doorman and concierge you know it's a well drilled team who are there to help. Thanks.

High tea is a big deal here. I like the selection of scotch! The keep tables for hotel guests, but it can get crowded in the early evening.

If you want a great tea, and snacks then you cant beat it. We would usually have drinks here before heading out to dinner somewhere else. Or conversely have a drink here before heading to bed after dining somewhere else

We went for impromptu drinks at the bar at the Goring yesterday evening. The space is lovely, all dark red and old gold with a recurring tongue-in-cheek sheep motif (above the door, on the ties worn by the charming staff). We started with two 175ml glasses (£13 each - you certainly pay for the location) of Gervasaillou Malagousia, then realised... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
