We stopped here after spending some time in Greenwich. We were hungry and stopped in not knowing what to expect other than it served British food. It's nothing fancy, but boy was it good. We LOVED it. The Steak and Ale pies with gravy were outstanding and the girls behind the counter were friendly and patient with our several questions.... More

I'd looked up good places for cheap eats in the area then our plans changed and I forgot about it until we were walking down the street after getting off the city cruise boat and suddenly saw the beautiful green storefront right across the street. It was packed downstairs, but there are long tables upstairs so we had a great... More

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Fast service, helpful staff, and absolutely delicious pie & mash that I will be dreaming about for months to come. Definitely try the vinegar on your pie; it adds a little extra something. So glad my friend recommended we come.

Decided to try the "local fare" during our trip to greenwich especially as it was too cold for a picnic! Fab choice of pies - kids menu limited but enough choice for our children. All food was delicious. Loved the large tables and old fashioned decor. The fruit pies were a winner for pudding too! Left feeling fully sustained and... More

Pie and mash in all flavours, very keen prices, one can have extra mash for little more, super fast service, all are friendly and competent, great prices on beer too, very clean, wooden pews and tables, the original british pub food, always busy, but still hardly any waiting, full of friendly locals of all ages, ...definitely an experience not to... I was born in South London and can honestly say this is the best pie and mash ever. Ive tried all the others but this one is tops. They have different types of pies which are always cooked to perfection with perfectly smooth mash and tasty liquor. They also serve delicious desserts which are big enough to share. Service is... I had not research Goddards before we had lunch but the advertising of Pies, Mash and gravy for 4.20 pound was enough to get me through the front door. The staff were lovely and worked quickly as there were a lot of people moving through the restaurant. They also had a great kids meal where you could chose a pie... More

I had not had a good experience with food in London. Overpriced in my opinion and usually medium quality. I am so glad I got to have the traditional mash and pie in this place. Very tasty, good price, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Felt like a local and not a tourist spot. Had the chicken and mushroom pie and the... More

My family and I ate there a few times and always great, full of flavour and good portions, also good value for money. It's good to take friends around to try the British traditional food!

Description
Goddards at Greenwich serves London's most traditional meal of pie mash and liquor. This meal can be traced back through the 1800's and is an important part of London's food history. We are open everyday serving handmade pies which are baked throughout the day. We are a family run business that has been serving pie and mash since 1890. Our air conditioned licensed restaurant can seat 100 people and we also offer desserts and cold drinks. We look forward to serving you London's most famous dish!

Staying in Greenwich

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.
