It was years ago but I haven't forgotten it. When I got to the till to pay, they saw I was foreign, so they scammed me. They pretended my payment didn't get through, I asked for the receipt to check that fact but oh what...a coincidence there was no paper left in the machine. Because I wouldn't pay without proof, they said they were going to do the till count, and after a long wait they said that my payment was missing. I paid a second time only to realised when I got to check my bank accound that both paiement had come through. I called them many times and sent many emails with proof and everytime they said they were sorry that they were on it but they NEVER PAID BACK. This proves their dishonesty. RUN AWAY !More

Nipped in for a quick lunch and that it was.... We ordered 2 fish and chips (cod) and 2 soft drinks. Drinks came in a glass poured from a 2L bottle, they were flat and clearly opened a day or so ago. Food arrived and...to my disgrace the battered cod still had the hole skin on it? I highlighted this and was told this is normal practise and people love it. Sorry i may be wrong but i have never heard of this before or experienced this before. Disgusting and inedible. Partners fish was worse, it was dry, not flaking but having to tear it apart in clumps and again the skin still on. She complained and was replaced with a sausage. The older man behind the counter cooking began to growl at me and stare in an angry manner when food returned, sorry i am from Glasgow and that behaviour is not the sort of approach to be taking with a complaining scotsman. A look back quickly resolved this. £4.50 for a bowl of mushy peas? Really this is not acceptable. The restaurant overall was dirty, small and cramped and not the most pleasant of staff. Toilet was down 2 floors in a small cramped dirty room in the basement with a non working hand dryer, no hot water and no soap. Considering the virus floating around the now i found this to be particularly bad hygiene services offered. I asked for the bill so we could leave this tip and was shocked to see a service charge added to the bill, i requested this to be removed. That was just an insult to add this based on all above. For £30 i left feeling robbed. A visit from the food standards agency is what this place needs Never again, please people this review could not be any more genuine. Avoid this place and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Plenty of other good local venues.More

Checked out menu for allergies. Thought all good everything noted. Still checked with waitress if my dinner was safe. Assured yes. However once I just started eating she stopped me and said. Oh I think it is fried in peanut oil. Took a while for...her to take it away and offer something else. Luckily I did not have an anaephalactic episode. Luckily for me. Fuming. But thankfully healthy a very close callMore

We visited this cafe early evening on a Saturday. The place was quite busy, we ordered cod and chips, which was served quickly, however, the food was very bland and we had to put loads of salt and vinegar on it all to make it...taste of anything. They charge a set 20% service charge for orders over £20, but we refused to pay it, they were a little funny about it, but eventually agreed although they never asked us why. I would not recommend going hereMore

The food came really quickly. Customer service was polite. The food was a bit dry, not good to my taste.

Great location chippy on the edge of Leicester Square. Decor is typical of a fish and chip 'restaurant', which is to say it's basic and unfussy. We're not big fans of giant blonde chips, so we asked if they could cook the chips for a...little bit longer to crisp them up, which they obligingly did. As a result, we each had delicious chips and a generous portion of fish, which had a lovely crispy batter that wasn't remotely oily or soggy. Considering the location, prices weren't too steep. The toilets down a flight of stairs in the basement were a bit grotty and could be a problem if you have mobility issues, but on the whole, Fish and Chipper is a good little eatery slap bang in the heart of the West End.More

We went for a simple fish and chips which we were overcharged for by our Surly waitress the pleasure of whose service we had to pay an additional £3. Our disgust was complete as while we ate the average food we watched in horror as...a family with a service dog were rejected entry by the uncouth chef.More
