We usually stay in and around Aldgate when we stay in London and this place is our “go to” spot for breakfast. We visited four times last week and enjoyed it. The place can get busy with people queueing out of the door, but Magda and her team are adept at dealing with customers speedily. They have a large selection of freshly prepared sandwiches and croissants, as well as cooked breakfasts, healthy options, freshly squeezed juices and the usual range of coffees. Sit in and take out are available. We’ll be visiting again when we’re next in London. Watch out as they don’t have their name on the outside of their premises, so you could miss it!

A hidden treasure ! Walking past - a stunning array of breakfast pastries in the window and the delightful smell of fresh coffee attracted us in .. A warm and friendly reception, from all staff.. Coffee & breakfast were duly served snd were an absolute delight .. In addition - the staff duly found my misplaced wallet and contacted me the next day ! Thank you thank you 🙏 See you all again soon 🤩

We called in here before our train home. All the food on the counter looked very appertising. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes and my husband chose the poached eggs with salmon on sourdough. We sat on the stools at the back of the cafe so were able to watch the staff working in the kitchen. We had also ordered 2 decaf americanos which were very nice. Our food came out promptly, mine was served with maple syrup, yoghurt and fruit, really delicious. My husbands food looked great also, a generous amount of salmon, and his poached eggs were perfect. He said it was very very nice, which was high praise!! Not a cheap place, came to just under ÂŁ28, but it was nice as a treat. Will came again when in the area.

The selection of products is really good and the products themselves not only look delicious, they are too. Unfortunately, the kindness of the staff leaves much to be desired. I bought two small cute particles, paid with the card at one of the employees and wanted to leave the store. Another female employee called after me and said that I would not have paid (and that before everyone else in the store). When her male colleague said that everything was fine and that he was paid for, no apology came. On the contrary - I was also told that I should make this clearer in the future. Let's face it - how can you pay more clearly than with an employee with a credit card? I haven't gone to the café since, but two doors down, where there's also a quite appealing café. So unfriendly staff can also scare away a customer.

You may miss the entrance while walking but once inside you understand that this is the place where you want to have your breakfast . During our stay in London we came here every morning and were never disappointed. My wife had her granola with yogurt and I had my sandwich. Great service and great food.

I agree with "overrated " review below - croissant pastry tough. Either yesterday's pastry or overbaked. Served cold and cardboardy - requested it to be warmed a bit and it came back scorching as well as plate being slammed down. Over hyped. Seats supremely uncomfortable.

It is listed as open until 8pm, we came at 6pm and it was already closed. Waste of our time walking all the way there. There was staff inside but they refused to engage with us and seemed too busy closing early.

Most delicious and high-quality breakfast and bakery items in this area! Egg on toast was massive with loads of creamy scrambled eggs. Eggs Benedict was beautiful and moth-watering and pancakes were moist and delicious! We will eat here every day! Do not miss this place!

Absolutely bussin brunch. Exmouth Royale served with poached eggs, smoked salmon, avocado and hollandaise sauce is one hell of a way to cure a hangover. A bit on the pricier side but staff and baristas were good. Cappuccino was excellent. Very busy on a Sunday so difficult to get a table inside unless you’re there early!

Came here for breakfast two days in a row as we were staying nearby. Everything we had was excellent. Very fresh, high quality ingredients and generous portions. We enjoyed the french toast, pancakes and bircher muesli. The freshly made smoothies were delicious, particularly the green one and the apple and vanilla cake was beautifully baked. Also the staff are lovely and work so hard. Get here early for breakfast as it's full by 9.30-10 with a queue forming.

It was the cake display that lured us in. Nor did the ones we sampled (a vegan banana cake and apple crumble) disappoint. These followed an excellent main course (spinach, mushroom and goat’s cheese omelette and eggs florentine in our case). For me the crowning experience was the best turmeric latte I’ve had (so good I had two). This was poured with great barista artistry, appropriately enough for a coffee shop right next to Whitechapel Gallery. On the other side - down a side alley - is Freedom anarchist bookshop. The music was bluesy, the setting Bohemian and the turmeric latte was amazing.

I have retuned here after a while. Prices are at the top of the market here, so I judge by those standards. Coffee remains of good quality (I tried a flat white). However, service is a bit of a mess: they cannot cope with the number of customers and there may be long waits. Staff is not particularly pleasant either. In spite of the top prices, they do not accept certain cards: unusual in London. We tried a savoury and a sweet and they were OK, but just average for the price. I think this place makes a lot of business from tourists attracted by the showy display, who don't mind spending a bit more. As a regular place, it's not good value.

Sunday brunch at this busy local cafe. The omelette was a little different (more bacon than egg!) but excellent. Coffee was superb. The cakes on display look mouth-watering but that would have been greedy! You'll be fighting with the local Aldgate / City crowd so time it right and you won't be disappointed

Visited Saturday afternoon for lunch. It's quite small but they managed to find us a table. We were enticed inside by the lovely window display of cakes/sandwiches. We were not disappointed. The avocado on toast and ham/cheese toasties were especially good. Good range of juices and smoothies. Staff friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices

Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
