Great location to sit and have a pint when walking the canal. We were going from Hertford to Limehouse and sat on the steps with a beer and some pork scratchings.

Despite having passed this canal side pub on numerous occasions, I'd never visited until now. So glad I did, what a great surprise. It is very close to the noisy traffic on the Lea Bridge Road, but the service and canal side location make up...More

Has changed since I was last there. Some changes good, some I don't like but that's my personal view. Hollie was excellent though and couldn't have been more helpful.

The Princess of Wales has been given some TLC and is now open once again — a proper good pub for the good people of Clapton.

The new-look Princess of Wales combines the best of a traditional London pub with everything you’d expect from a first-rate bar or restaurant. British classics like fish & chips, seasonal pies and juicy burgers will always feature on our menus but you’ll also spot innovative, home-grown recipes that feature the best of our regional produce. On our bar, cask ales take pride of place but we’ve also made room for some top-notch craft beers. Our wines, gins, vodkas and rums follow a similar pattern: firm favourites mixed in with exciting, new flavours.

Come by soon, get yourself a glass of something cold, sit by the River Lea and thank your lucky stars for unearthing the wonder that is the Princess of Wales.
