Service was good, fish & chips were awful & too expensive. The fish was small and the batter was hard and the chips were not nice.

Entering the restaurant is like taking a step back in time. The interior is great fun and the staff wear a uniform that fits in with the ‘period decor’. By the way, you MUST visit the toilets and see the original old cast iron ‘Crapper’ toilet cisterns; unique! On to the important stuff….the Haddock that my wife and I eat... More

Poppies in Camden is a nice place. Close to the tube station and the market. Fish & Chips should apparently be among the best. However, the fish was okay but the chips were soft and not the best. Cosy place, interesting decor with old stuff and live music. A bit expensive - around 25 GBP including a beer.

We heard about the award winning Poppies and decided to try it out when one of our friends was in town. We ordered fish and chips, lemon sole, as well as anchovies. We thought the food was good overall, but nothing to rave about - batter on fish was still dripping in oil and bit soggy rather than the crisp... More

Had to wait a while to get in but it was well worth the wait. Lovely atmosphere 1950's, loads of interesting memorabilia, lovely fish and chips. Only thing 10% service charge was auto added and the plates of our family were cleared while some were still eating. Can recommend the food though, fast turnover.

On the day of arrival after checking in to Camden Lock Hotel wanted to fetcha bite to eat and look around the town. As already being late (around 9 PM) didn't wanted to eat something heavy just a small bite and goto bed so that can get up early. But could not resist the wonderful and tasty smell and inviting... This place offers delicious fish and chips! It is a bit expensive but we thought the food was worth every penny.

El lugar es pintoresco, y la comida está bien pero MUY cara para lo que es. Y eso que no comí en el local, que era más caro aún. Pero si uno anda por Camden, da ganas de pasar... It's a nice place but way too expensive. I bought take away because eating in was ridiculously expensive. The food was... More

While I can't say it's the BEST fish & chips ever, it's pretty good, solid. I've had several people recommend this place to me & my travel buddy so we went out of our way to eat here. With that being said, if you're close by come on out & give this place a try. However, don't specifically seek this... More

Let us take you back to the 1940s/50s London with award-winning, traditional British fish and chips.

Enjoy mouth-watering, fresh, sustainably-caught fish, cooked in crunchy batter and served with golden chips and classic mushy peas. You'll enjoy your meal surrounded by authentic 1940s/1950s memorabilia including a jukebox and Second World War posters, lovingly curated by Poppies owner Pat'Pop' Newland.

Pop has been serving fish and chips in the East End for 60 years, and, following the success of the first Poppies restaurant in Spitalfields, brings his passion for this much-loved dish to Camden.

Customers can find the same great quality food and service here, and the venue has live jazz/swing/pop/blues bands playing every Friday and Saturday at our Fish 'n' Gigs nights.

In addition to fish and chips, you can choose from other British favourites, such as pie, fish cakes, saveloy, battered sausage, and that love-it-or-hate-it East End special - jellied eels.

For those with a sweet tooth, we've included some traditional English puddings such as apple pie, Cartmell's award winning sticky toffee pudding from Cumbria and ice cream from the Minghella family business on the Isle of Wight.

To wash it all down, choose from our selection of drinks which include English cloudy apple juice, ginger beer, wine, beers and local ales.

Our take away food comes wrapped in newsprint boxes or cones, just as it was in the old days.

Reservations are not a must, but we do recommend you book in advance as it can get very busy.
