The only positive thing that I can say about this restaurant is our chef Andrew, who was very kind. But for the rest 0! Once we paid the bill (at 10 pm) the waiter started cleaning around us and setting up the table for the next day and literally pushing us off the table to leave. We complained to the... More

Teppanyaki is what my friend likes and Benihana had a special offer for 29£ with a glassof procesco. The set menu included a choice of salmon, chicken , prawns and steak! It was a fun and experimental evening though I must say the portion was small and the 2 chosen dishes were similar . There was a lack of vegetables... More

Absolutely loved our experience at Benihana, all of the staff were incredible with excellent service. The food is great, you get more than enough with the 'set meal' and certainly don't need any extra appetisers. With reviews stating its expensive, you get what you pay for, for central London I didn't fine it extortionate as you are paying for good... More

Great service with showman like cooking and a good amount of food. Not cheap but it's a complete meal and you know it will be good. Majority of the food is cooked in front of you on one large hot plate with plenty of tricks and banter. If there are less than 8 of you you tend to share the... More

The set meal amounted to no more than some grilled chicken and prawns. Onion soup to start, followed by a salad made with iceberg lettuce! Then some prawns from the hot plate which had no flavour. My main was chicken and prawns with steamed rice and some beansprouts, no sauce, just grilled on the hot plate. £30! I cant even... More

Perfect for a special 'event' dinner with a partner, especially if they haven't been to teppenyaki before. Our chef was funny and engaging, as well as being highly skilled, and the food was delicious. I would recommend the Wagyu beef and egg fried rice. It is not, however, cheap, and although you are obviously paying for the 'personal' chef, the... More

We were here to celebrate my son's 10th birthday. Since I had been before I had quite high expectations of the entertainment during dinner but I was very disappointed. The chef was quite tired and did a minumum of performance. Really sad since we had planned this special occation.

I go here about three times a year, can't afford to go more regularly than that. Not only is the food excellent but the cocktails as well. The cocktails are cheap for central London but the bill soon racks up if you go nuts. The chef brings out all of the food raw, you can see its the finest quality... More

This place is more than just a dinner place. The chefs here are extremely talented, it's a show to see them prepare your dinner at your table. Worth a visit, and when you are here - why don't try the Sake tasting with your dinner!

Have been to this restaurant on many occasions and the Teppanyaki is a nice change from the norm. Prices are higher than ought to be but for a special, fun time its very much the place to go

Description
Elegant Japanese styling and delicious fresh food await you at London's Benihana Restaurant. Benihana is a favourite not only of tourists but of locals fresh from the nearby offices, relaxing with colleagues or indeed entertaining clients. In keeping with the Benihana brand the chain began in New York way back in 1964, this means that this year, 2014 is our 50th anniversary. This superb Japanese restaurant swaps the conventional kitchen for a central hibachi grill around which diners watch their food being prepared before their eyes. Boasting a wide range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes traditionally cooked Benihana offers a unique Japanese dining experience not to be missed.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
