The restaurant is stylish. It has round tablets which is perfect when you are visiting the place with an unequal number of guests. Both the service and food is excellent.

Business lunch. We asked for rapid service and got it. Only time for a main course so opted for veal Milanese which was very good.

The restaraunt is very nice place and the staff were good but I wasn't very impressed with the food. We had a large group and had a set menu with limited options. Food was OK but nothing to write home about.

Regret the comments especially as they are from an experienced reviewer. Seems we let him down with the food. But then again it as a set menu with limited options chosen by the host for a large group. Hopefully this reviewer will be able to visit again and we would have the chance to change his mind regarding our cuisine More

Very pleasant ambiance I have been here many times before. So many London city restaurants are underground is a pleasure to see some natural light! Food is good but a tad expensive. Service was good this time as it can be slow. don't go there if you're in a major hurry. All in all I would return

Slightly impersonal venue - felt like an office in which one had laid out tables and the service matched the feel of the place - a little formal and not very friendly (but not unfriendly). Food was by numbers Italian - all decent quality but no personality and a bit "so what". But prices assumed something so much more. (That... More

Not a bad review but one that raised concerns for us. Re the service I do believe we do try to be friendly, but with city clients and business lunches we also have to be formal, so we have to be not to friendly but not unfriendly, a happy medium. I do wish reviewers would stick to reviewing and not... More

Good location form the city. Set menu good value and Varied a la carte Here for a special occasion but did not feel that special. The occasion was not acknowledged at all though had been put in comments at time of booking. Comments clearly read as the waiter asked about one of our dietary needs and allergy but not the... More

Regret that this reviewer found cause for comment. She is correct in that we had noted on the booking that there was a dietary requirement and also that it was one of the guests birthday. Normally we would have offered a small cake with candles with their desert. This did not happen however as the clients declined desert and the waiter... More

The food here always impresses. Superb pasta (try the truffle spaghetti) and great meat dishes (try the Milanese veal) are among a long menu list. Book ahead if possible as this place is very popular with the businessmen at lunch time.

My wife and I had been to a Christmas carol event and we're looking for somewhere to eat on the way home, when we passed Caravaggio and popped in. Maybe we should have been forewarned by the fact that Caravaggio had spare tables when many other places were fully booked. Anyhow, the food took at least 45 minutes to arrive... More

Have to wonder why the comment few empty tables,,as these clients had just popped in and had no idea if anyone else was full or not. Suffice it to say it was quite a busy night. Formally opened by Luciano Pavarotti in 1996, Caravaggio was created in homage to a key genius of the Italian Renaissance, serving a menu that brings together dishes from various regions of Italy and its islands. Inside a former bank, all that remains of the original interior is the ornate high ceiling, with its splendid Art Deco light fittings. A gallery runs around the room at mezzanine level, providing a second tier of tables. A long, marble topped bar by the entrance provides a convenient holding area for what is, at lunch times, a very busy dining room.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
