For a restaurant in this area a lot of the visitors are business people. We arrived at 12.30 for lunch. Main course was served after 2pm. Woeful service and no apology. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to this restaurant for lunch and...More

I can assure our clients that we do care deeply for customers and always strive to do our best, but sometimes do not manage to perform to the standard we strive for. We appreciate customers reviews and comments which can be complimentary or point out...More

The octopus was OK, the parma ham very very average and sliced way too thickly. The mushroom pasta mediocre. The only outstanding thing were the drinks and the bread with olive oil, neither one of which requires any cooking, which means Caravaggio doesn't quite master...More

Apologies re the Parma ham which quite rightly needs to be sliced wafer thin, but our slicer was out for repair and hence for a few days we were obliged to slice by hand,,obviously with not acceptable result. Shame that the review was not more...More

It's a glitzy Italian, with prices to match and portions that don't. It is a City favourite, and I have been loads of times, and I'm still missing the point. The food is always average. Last time it wasn't that warm, but I wasn't paying...More

It is always regretted when we recieve a review such as this but thankfully not the norm. If we are a city favourite as stated it is not because we serve average cold food. If we failed to meet this reviewers expectations it is appreciated...More

I have been there twice in the last month, both cases for dinner which is a much more relaxing and enjoyable experience than the crowded and rushed lunch hour. As an Italian I am very suspicious around Italian restaurants. This place has a good menu...More

Solid Italian food but still a bit stuffy and with service that can be improved. The place needs a refurb. but still one of the best and only Italian restaurants around Lloyd's.More

Comments from an experienced foodie are always appreciated. We always try to improve be it service or quality of food. If impression given as stuffy being a family run restaurant this is not our intention. But dealing with city business clients at lunchtime, staff do...More

Why do we go to upscale restaurants? Yes, sure, to enjoy very good food and service. We even go to places that charge way more than would be appropriate for the level of quality they offer. We kind of tend to forgive mediocre food for...More

I am obliged to respond to this review with a certain amount of meiosos. This review was not written by the client concerned but by a colleague. So I suppose we should forgive his sophistry and his obvious wish to vituperate and dissemble nor the...More

Based in a great location near the Lloyds of London building on Leadenhall Street, Caravaggio has been a long time quality Italian restaurant. From my first visits years ago, to my most recent, the food has always been great. Having lunched there recently, my guest...More

The restaurant is stylish. It has round tablets which is perfect when you are visiting the place with an unequal number of guests. Both the service and food is excellent.

Description
Formally opened by Luciano Pavarotti in 1996, Caravaggio was created in homage to a key genius of the Italian Renaissance, serving a menu that brings together dishes from various regions of Italy and its islands. Inside a former bank, all that remains of the original interior is the ornate high ceiling, with its splendid Art Deco light fittings. A gallery runs around the room at mezzanine level, providing a second tier of tables. A long, marble topped bar by the entrance provides a convenient holding area for what is, at lunch times, a very busy dining room.
