As part of our dining tour of London, we made time for Le Gavroche, where we had eaten 17 years ago. It is still located in the basement of a lovely Mayfair townhouse; the décor exudes classic, elegant, luxurious, if clubby, dining. And that is...More

We went as part of my girlfriends birthday. As we enjoyed a glass of champagne the Maitre'd came over to discuss the menu. My girlfriend does not eat shell fish. We decided to do the full tasting menu with matching wines . Two dishes were...More

We booked our table for four three months ago and were really looking forward to the experience. It did not disappoint. We decided to opt for the 8 course tasting menu, which sounds a bit daunting but the portion sizes are sensible, not too much,...More

Went with two friend cos it was two of our birthdays. Scallops entrecôte were divine. The plates didn't look filling but boy they were. The desert was the ultimate. Chocolate praline with gold leaf was possibly best desert I have ever had. The service. Exceptional.

Fabulous 8 course tasting menu with selected wines to match. What a birthday treat. Costly but who cares when you cannot fault the food, the excellent service and the ambience. Michel Roux is a star in my opinion and a nice man!

There's a reason it's so difficult to get a table here: because every aspect is fantastic. All the food is delicious. Best sweetbreads I've ever tasted. Delicious turbot main course. And the pudding soufflé is absolutely incredible (and huge!). The cheese trolley is a highlight...More

Overall a wonderful experience and made all the better by Michel Roux doing a walkround, but I was underwhelmed by the dated and gloomy decor and some of the food. We opted for the lunch menu which really is tremendous value for money, but being...More

Yes, I did that as I'm not a fan of white wine. I ordered my wine by the glass separately, whereas my friends had the wine pairing. If you do the wine pairing, it costs more (I think about approx £150?).

Yes, but it has got to be smart and very tidy. What you wear is very much noticed.

Description
The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.
