This is a great place for an early evening dinner or late lunch. The tapas style plates mean that you can eat as much or as little as you like. There was plenty of choice and everything was freshly cooked so it came in stages. Some interesting Venetian twists on the menu - the gnocci with walnuts was particularly delicious.

What a find. Lovely rustic feel with excellent choice of small plates. The thinnest crispy pizza base was best since trip to Italy. Staff very attentive, friendly we could not have asked for more. Shall return.

As I've owned their cookbook for years, we were so excited to visit Polpo in person, what a let down. The food was bland and flavorless, the service HORRIBLE, the drinks atrocious. I just can't express how disappointed we were. The bartender was so rude and as we sat the bar, we witnessed kitchen and prep area hygiene issues that... More

We are here last night and really enjoyed it. We had the arancini and the BBQ octopus for starters, which were both good, the octopus was really tender. Spaghetti and the classic meatballs for our main which we both enjoyed, all washed down with some Prosecco. Nothing fancy but a great atmosphere and it was very busy, the waiters were... More

Met up with an old friend and can recommend all we had - beer / gin fizz to start; both crostinis, fennel salad, classic meatballs, prawns, and rabbit, all washed down with the Merlot. We took our time ordering and finished our drinks leisurely, but were never rushed. Could be hard to hear, but maybe I'm just getting old!

Dined here before heading off to the theatre. We both ordered the meatballs- I the original, my partner the lamb and mint, both with spaghetti. I thought the meal itself was quite dull, I've had much better meatballs at other Italian restaurants and also enjoy the ones I cook at home. The meal wasn't particularly hot either. However the focaccia... More

My mother and I came for an early dinner and chose the set menu as we had spent a lot of money shopping that day! We had some yummy aperol spritz', which they did very well, and the service was super attentive and smiley. The food was not mind-blowing, but it was definitely yummy. We had the platter of veg... Polpo is a bàcaro, a humble, Venetian restaurant serving simple food and good, young local wines within a modest setting, exposed brickwork, tin ceilings and copper bars. Several of the restaurants have basement bars - a great clandestine destination in their own right for drinks and a snack, or as a handy place to hang out while you are waiting for your friends to join you.

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
