I've had great experiences here in the past but this recent one was disappointing. The food was over spiced with too many flavours. We were also placed in the very back room with a very noisy table next to us in a very cramped space. Lacked atmosphere but also too noisy we couldn't hear each other speak. Nice to be... More

Food was great, above all the vegetables. The bread is free of charge and it has an amazing taste! Wine was good and service attentive. Maybe the place lacks a bit of atmosphere but overall it was a very good experience.

Amazing cuttlefish starter, fantastic turbot and chickpeas. My visit saw Moro back to its old best. A special thanks to Pia our waitress who was superb.

Moro is probably the classiest restaurant in Exmouth Market - a pedestrian friendly street in cool Clerkenwell, central London. The place is large, with lots of tables, and they squeezed us in even though we had not booked at 19.00 on a Mid week evening. What stood out was the service. Our waitress knew the wine list and allowed us... More

Treated myself to another visit to this gem of a restaurant with my mother and daughter. Every part of the meal is a treat. I love the way as much thought has gone into the vegetable accompaniments as the meat or fish. The standout dish this time was the skate wing with wild rice, avocado, black beans and orange mojo.... Blagging a table for 4 at Moro on a Friday night isn't easy but they went our of their way to fit us in and the annexe to the right of the kitchen is an oasis of calm in the otherwise noisy and bustling restaurant. They just do it so well: dishes which combine great flavours and textures but simply... More

Not a cheap place but if you want a special meal to celebrate, this is a real favourite. Go for 3 courses and fish and meat courses outstanding. Start with the squid and monks beard! It's a winner.

They managed to accommodate our group of seven for an early Friday evening meal even though we hadn't booked, providing we didn't take more than an hour or so, and kindly didn't rush us when we ran over slightly. Whilst there were 1 or 2 starters OK for vegetarians, the main course menu of 6 or 7 dishes only had... More

We had a wonderful lunch here. The food was well cooked and presented, it was well flavoured and all three courses were delicious. The staff were welcoming and happy to advise. The wine list was also very good. The room lacked a bit in terms of atmosphere but that may be due to it being lunch time, however that did... More

I love this restaurant, but you have to know what to expect before you turn up. It's almost like a canteen - noisy and bustling and certainly not somewhere for a romantic, relaxed and quiet dinner for two. The food is rustic but incredibly tasty, with the homemade bread and any of the meat or fish dishes cooked in the... More

Description
It might be one of the hippest venues in one of the hippest parts of the capital but this Clerkenwell restaurant still manages to be relaxed and more concerned with good food than being trendy. The restaurant’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar and open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven is functional but welcoming. The Moorish cuisine complete with subtle European influence is every bit as striking as it was when the restaurant opened its doors nearly ten years ago. Tapas served all day at the bar. Reservations taken by phone and directly from our website.PLEASE NOTE - Moro restaurant is now open seven days a week. Please refer to our website for correct opening hours

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
