Lovely place for lunch. Beautiful setting and great selection Would definitely suggest that you eat here when you visit the museum.

Husband had braised beef and rice which he enjoyed. I had only room for a snack so went for the soup of the day. Unfortunately there were no gluten-free bread options available so that let it down. The server was very helpful and offered poppadom. Pleasant little half bottle of Italian red wine which we shared with two glasses, very... More

We had lunch. lots of choice, hot cold, sarnis. we had hot - but by the time we had waited to buy drinks it was getting cold. cafeteria style. Parts of restaurant modern - get in the old Wm Morris part is you can, though that part is tiled, so cool. Food tasty, not very generous portions for the price.

The food is OK, but eating it in the beautiful period décor rooms is the fun part. Do take a teapot and scone to enjoy them :)

lots of choice, and I'm neither a vegetarian or in a wheelchair, or with a buggy but its all good. There are several points to chose types of food from have a look through before committing yourself.

I went to have a coffee before seeingn one of the exhibtions - all too muddling - the cakes/biscuits were far too sticky for me so I picked up a packet of choc covered raisins which after I had eaten then I saw were 3 months ourt of date. Tables not cleared - all disorganised chaos. Found this out let... More

V&A is always nice to visit, not only the museum but also the garden, the restaurant and the good food and life music. In fact, in the old days, people went to the restaurant, even neglecting the museum . You should enjoy both, even more given the good price/quality quote

We came here for lunch before visiting the exhibits. There was a small queue in the rain for about five minutes before being let in. As other reviewers have said there are counters dotted around but that is more to do with the physical limitations of the venue. We both had tomato and basil soup (including bread and butter) and... Rather odd layout of the the various food options although once you work out what is where it's ok. Bit of a faff queuing for savoury food, then another queue for cake, then another queue to pay. Way too much queuing and balancing of food tray! However, really excellent food and good selection on offer. Truly spectacular setting for the... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
