Sunday lunch 27 November 2016 13.30. We love the beef and Yorkshire pudding. The Horseradish is the best I have ever tasted. Always Special lunch or dinner. Good service. Beef carved at your table and choice of Rare Medium or darker cut. Potted shrimp Starter a delight.

A Simpson’s roast is still an enjoyable experience, but to fully justify the expense service and attention to detail need to be restored to their former levels. My most recent visit was on 3 December and we were celebrating a birthday. Although seated promptly on arrival we were left unattended for slightly too long for the food order to be... More

The table wasn't ready until 45 minutes after our reservation time, the beef and lamb were cold and swimming in watery gravy. The service was cold and impersonal. To top it off at the end the floor manager (I'm guessing this was his position) came to the table, asked "how was your evening, can we find you a space in... More

My son and I went to dinner on our last night in London. We were warmly greeted by a very pleasant young woman who asked if we had ever been there before. I had eaten there with my husband over thirty years before. We chatted briefly about the history. We enjoyed our meals.

Just like a restaurant used to be when I was a kid. Nothing flashy, old school menu and service. How many places can you find in Central London which aren't populated by brash "new money", load talking, diners constantly on phones, taking selfies etc. Well, come to Simpson's and you'll be very pleasantly surprised by the calm and civilised atmosphere.... Have wanted to go to Simpson's since reading Howards End at school and finally managed it. Walked through the iconic doors to be not really greeted by a women who looked like she couldn't really be bothered. The room was half empty but the ervice was slow and the staff constantly changing. The starter and desert were good and we... More

Food tasted fairly good but poor value. Service felt very amateur. Weird banter from the staff. Suspect it survives on tourists wandering in and being impressed by illusions of grandeur and history. Would not visit again.

Amazing ambience, from the Victorian dining hall to the crooner on the piano. This is a classy venue set on the Strand next to The Savoy. The staff are brilliant, all older chaps, but they add to the experience, from the typically British wit to the personal service they provide is excellent. The food is exceptional, it's classic British cooking... More

Me and my friend have booked via timeout for a 3 course deal which included the Simpsons' famous roast. I booked over the phone and the staff was so friendly. However, when we got to the restaurant, the front of the house staff-lady named Danielle, who appeared to be quite annoyed with something (it almost felt as if our presence... More

We were treated to a wonderful lunch today by friends. A fantastic experience and wonderfully friendly staff. Food was an exceptional standard and the surroundings typically English. Nostalgia at its best. Well worth a visit.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
