Average menu, average food, average service, average deco. If you are in the area, need food and don't want to wait for a table, then it's a good option.

My partner adores Japanese food and we are lucky to have the excellent Kyoto in Ramsgate I'm not a big fan I admit and ordered a salmon bento box , which at £19.99 was extortionate for two small tails of salmon in a cloying teriyaki sauce, unmentionable pickles, rice and thick cut raw salmon. It was not good My partner... More

The curry udon dish is really awesome, perfect for a cold winter day. The other mains we tried were all very nice as well, but I was a bit disappointed by the small number of starters, most of which not really appetising. Those we tried varied from ok (dead cold aubergines, which would have been better if not served right... More

I've been going to Tokyo Diner roughly once a month for 9 years now and the quality of service and food never disappointed. It's a solid, no-nonsense place. Although it's in the middle of riddiculously busy China town, you can always find space there. All staff speak japanese and roughly 1/2 of clients are from Japan. I think I sampled... More

Nothing super fancy - basic Japanese food in simple setting. Always busy but friendly staff doesn't make you feel rushed. Decent selection of food that's prepared quickly. Good value for the money in that area.

In my humble opinion this is the best restaurant in London. This is very subjective opinion but I love the food, staff is always nice and it's VERY reasonably priced as for London. Plus owners are very conscious about the environment and surrounding world. Whenever I can, I always take my friends there and everyone share my love for this... More

We have been the restaurant as visitors to the city for a dinner and ordered Soba and Katsudon. The flavor of Donburi is ok but not really authentic - probably been tuned to the local taste. The problem is for the soba, the soup is tasteless. Cannot judge that whether this is the loved taste of local people. but if... More

This is a great Japanese restaurant if you are meeting friends or family in central London (located close to Leicester Square). You may have to queue on the weekend nights but it is usually no more than a 10-15 minute wait. The food has been good on every visit for the past five years and the service is equally good.... Standard Japanese food at a reasonable price for central London. Efficient service! Nothing too special.

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
