This is a very nice restaurant on the first floor of the Cavendish hotel. The set menu was very good value and the service was impeccable.

The restaurant is tucked away in the first floor, its fairly small but provides some lovely furniture. The ambience I would describe as silent as we were the only ones there for a good deal of time however others did eventually join which was a relief because it was starting o become awkard. The starters were exceptional, one of the... More

Absolutely lovely afternoon tea. Delicious and great variety of savoury and sweet treats, lovely flavours. Good service, very attentive. Brilliant value for money, we had 2 for 1 deal but even without deal still very good value. Only slight critique, would be nice to have loose tea rather than tea bags however this may be slightly picky given the price.... More

It is a very nice and classy restaurant. The layout is world class and the staff very friendly and accommodating (Laura and Andre and Marlon). The window view from the restaurant is beautiful with all those Christmas decorations and lights.

We were staying at the Cavendish and decided to have one meal here- we were so glad we did! My husband and I both chose steak as main meal and can honestly say it was one of the. Eat steaks we had ever had- cooked to perfection! Alongside the lovely meal, the staff were fantastic, so attentive and nothing too... More

I organised a Christmas lunch at the Petrichor for my work team and I wasn’t disappointed. The restaurant event coordinator, Yvonne, was exceptionally helpful and professional at helping me with the initial booking. Her excellent service made things very smooth throughout the process. I think this restaurant is a hidden gem in London; the food was fantastic and the staffs,... More

Nice surroundings but passionless food. Staff were very good though in the main! The chicken starter was bland but the sauce was fiery so you couldn't taste much after! The main lamb hot pot again bland, cooking needs an infusion of passion honestly.

Disappointed with our lunch. The writing was on the wall when the waitress tried to unscrew the wine bottle top which was a cork! Then the wine was walked around the restaurant as the staff worked out how to open it! Everything was just ok nothing special. The restaurant felt tired. The meal wasn't overly expensive but for the price... More

My wife and I booked a special 3 course lunch deal for £29.50, including a prosecco, as a treat after visiting the RA. There is something very comforting about Petrichor - it is a little old fashioned, maybe, but the decor is pleasing and the chairs comfortable. (Plus there was no musak - great!) All the staff were charming, indulging... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
