Marc, the chef/patron opened up on Good Friday and we had the most wonderful meal. Chicken liver salad, followed by guinea fowl and a trio of sweets - not forgetting the wonderful cheese selection. My dad had the pork stew - which he said was the best he had ever tasted - tender and succulent, my brother had the fish... More

I went to this restaurant for my birthday with my French husband and our two kids, and we had a fabulous evening! It was like stepping into a little France in Crouch End. The owner was very familiar and friendly and first of all, passionate about the food he served. And the food was delicious! Great sauces and no fuss... More

My wife and I have been regular diners at Les Associes since it first opened about 30 years ago. It's an oasis of calm dining with really good cuisine. Crisp tablecloths and gentle French music add a pleasing ambience. The wine list is well chosen and moderately priced. We have hosted a couple of private parties in the dining room... More

Cold room, very bad service, low standard food and overly expensive. Unfortunately the whole experience was bad from start to finish which is such a shame as a local I really want to like and support local businesses. I hope the owners are reading the reviews here and change things up here as this could be a great local restaurant.

We visited this restaurant for the first time recently for a mid-week dinner. As the total of diners amounted to 2 couples there was a lack of atmosphere but the food was authentic and the main courses were quite substantial although the vegetable selection was quite ordinary. The place has a slightly jaded feel and could really do with a... More

The restaurant is situated in the Front room of a Victorian House in Crouch End. The patron is a typical French restauranteur. The menu is not particularly extensive (maybe 8 choices of entree and main course). However it is all delicious. I had the chicken liver salad for an entree and the chicken livers were cooked to perfection. The mousse... More

Have been wanting to visit for many years, so decided to go for my husband's birthday. The restaurant feels and smells like someone's front room. The starters of snails and avocado salad were tasteless. The mains of steak were ok, but my duck was disappointing. The sides of vegetables contained one small piece of broccoli and one tiny piece of... More

This is a rather old-fashioned place, in a good sense. The owner is unpretentious, can even at times be a bit rude, yet is completely committed to running a good, honest French restaurant and can also be quite humorous. Very unusual these days, the place is quiet enough to have a conversation with your friends while having your dinner. The... More

Everything about this restaurant is authentically French, from the menu to the old fashioned decor to the curling script of the cartes. The mood is sympathique, cozy at lunch, intimate at dinner, and there are a few tables outside where you can dine well en plein air and watch the smoke for your Gauloises twist in the breeze. The homemade fish soup, Breton style en croute, is delightful, and the confit of duck with grenadine sauce is also a favourite. Wine list is unsuprisingly French, as is the charming welcome daily specials.
