This was one of the stops on our food tour. We had bacon/ham-sandwiches. I'm not a fan of bacon or ham it was actually pretty tasty. The menu looks really good and the prices seem very reasonable.

I'd read and heard good things about St Johns in various publications (and on television). Decided to take my girlfriend there for her birthday and it was the right choice. The food was fairly classic but with excellent fresh ingredients, nicely presented. The beer, we both agreed, was the nicest Pilsner we've ever had (from Bermondsey but I can't remember... More

We were planning to go to the "main" St John restaurant, unfortunately same-day reservation is very unlikely to succeed. We were advised to try "Bread & Wine", and it is an excellent choice: - atmosphere is very nice (large dining room with view on the kitchen) - food is excellent: a large selection of traditional dishes, with fresh products; wine... My wife and ate here in April, 2017. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was vibrant and the staff was attentive. I can't recommend this place enough. This place specializes in "nose to tail" eating". We ordered a bunch of little plates but the duck hearts were surprisingly wonderful. The desserts are great as well.

My boyfriend booked dinner at St John Bread and Wine for my birthday and it was faultless. The changing seasonal menu containing a variety of offal and meats (a few other options too) was fantastic. Be adventurous! We tried things like deep fried calfs brain and ox heart- both we loved! I would recommend sharing more of the smaller plates... More

Should have gotten there early, as they had run out of some items. Apart from that, it is just as good as it's big brother. Very lively, and lots of fun.

We visited as part of a large group celebrating a birthday. It is a big light informal refractory style dining room with a semi-open kitchen. Although this is a very meat focused menu there are also good option for vegetarians. The carnivores had bone marrow on toast followed by a whole roast piglet. The food was excellent including the accompanying... More

I stumbled across this place by chance. A nice cosy restaurant for a solo diner. The service was exceptional! Even though I was sitting there revising for a job interview I felt comfortable to be working and eating at the same time. I had the Mackrell for the entree then lamb for the main. The lamb was poached and was... More

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
