Good first impressions... courteous, nice atmosphere, open kitchen, white tablecloths. Suitable for small groups or couples. Good range of cold and hot mezes from which we ordered a selection for sharing - one of the joys of Turkish restaurants. Set menus are also available. Very tasty (pity the vine leaves were a bit too cold straight from the fridge) and... More

I took a friend from Cambridgeshire and she was very impressed by the crisp white linen smart glasses and general ambiance. Also she found the food and service excellent

Went here with a large group (13!). Got lots of mezzo plates for sharing, more than enough to go around, and have a bit of everything. I had the lamb kaftan, which were lovely. Didn't have room for dessert (pity, they looked very inviting!) Good service, despite our best efforts to confuse! Reasonably priced, we'll be back

On our way to the Southwark Playhouse, looking for somewhere to eat away from the bustle of Borough Market and came across TAS - we are lovers of Turkish food and were not disappointed either by the food or the friendly reception. Clearly frequented by locals, we found the food to be of good standard and reasonable price.

Always enjoy going here at the end of my stay. Usually six of us and never a complaint. Never the same dish twice and never disappointed. Service is friendly and helpful. Look foward to our next visit.

Saw the Turkish food sign and hoped this was the sort of experience my wife and I enjoy as we visit Turkey on a regular basis. Made to feel very welcome. Good choice of dishes as we are Vegetarian. Good size portions. Lovely tasting food. Very good service from the saff.

I love Turkish food - why wouldn't I, I'm half Turkish. But slightly disappointed by the minimal portion sizes (especially for a £4 salad!). Main service was provided by one very disinterested waiter, while coffee was brought by a very bubbly and smiley waitress. Nice ambience, but food of equal stature and taste can be bought for half the price... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
