A friend told me she'd been to a champagne tasting evening at London Bridge so I thought I'd give it a go too. Booked my place and turned up, not really knowing what to expect. Sat with a very nice couple and their friend for the evening who had ordered a bottle of Philophile champagne which we drank before the... More

Went for a business lunch. We had a room in the basement. Had to go out the door and in the street to get in as they are doing building work, so was a strange start. Was a little disappointed that because there was over 8 of us, we had to have the set menu. Not too much choice on... More

Well what can I say what a great place. Service staff and atmosphere fantastic. We chilled at bar then taken to table ( nice and private in corner) had the special cheese board to share for starters followed by the ostrich steaks which I have to say was fantastic. Only grumble was price of wine £50 for oyster bay (... More

The staff is friendly and courteous. The food is good, but I suspect foodies would find it average. I've found the the atmosphere is conducive to having dinner with colleagues after a long day at work.

It is a perfect place for a casual or business related lunch. Lovely, attentive & very swift service! We shared baked Camembert followed by a risotto & steak combo. All cooked perfectly so truly cannot fault it. I'm not sure about the general atmosphere during dinner service ( as it was very quiet when we were there) but guessing it... More

I had hoped for a good steak . Whilst the flavour was good the steaks arrived cool, I guess having been plated a while before the waiter delivered to our table . Too late to send back , bottom line not in the same league as competitors and more pricey.

Good bustling atmosphere - looked off-putingly cool but soon relaxed as staff friendly and food delicious. And rather than just beating another trend eatery, the cuisine is Basque. Prices seems reasonable but then also down to small portions, or rather choice of portion sizes (including the annoying habit of selling food by weight - why not just offer small or... More

Great restaurant and outstanding welcome from the owner who is South African - it originally specialised in South African fayre but regardless the food is outstanding. An excellent wine cellar with sooo many choices and a first class Cheese Cave that will only surprise and delight :) ..........

Description
If you love fine wine and fine food - in that order - then you should run and not walk to Vivat Bacchus right this minute. Dedicated to the god of wine, Vivat Bacchus is not only a place for fine dining. It has a passionate dedication to the best of the grape. You will be invited to visit the three wine cellars, one each for red, white, and champagne, to choose bottles to complement your food. Take your time - they hold around 6000 bottles with 250 different labels. Later you might like to visit the cheese cellar to choose among eighty local and imported cheeses to savour at the end of your meal. Oh! The meal! Right. The Head Chef is Robert Staegemann, formerly of Launceston Place Restaurant, who offers a menu that's a scrumptious amalgam of classic French and dishes influenced by cooking cultures from all over the world. Choose starter of cured foie gras with plum chutney and toast, main course of roast breast of guinea fowl with papardelle pasta, crispy pancetta and red wine glaze, and pud of banana creme brulee, or just the aforementioned cheeses with port. The ambience is smart and sophisticated with decor that will pleasantly remind you of wine cellars decorated with labels and labelled bin ends.
