We had a meal at the white bear in October while we stayed at a hotel nearby and found it to be excellent. We ate on a Monday evening and so it was quiet but we were made to feel very welcome by the staff on arriving. The meal its self was a deal they were offering and the quality... More

Visited here while on holiday. It's a lovely local pub / restaurant. Great selection on the menu with a specials board to choose from as well. Also has a decent wine list. The prices are reasonable too. Devilled kidneys, spicy sausage & mushroom in tomato based sauce starter was delicious. The food was so good we actually came back later... More

Staying in Huby down the road and local pubs not serving meals Monday night so drove into Stillington. Once I'd gotten over the drive down the lonely country road in the dark lol, stopped here as looked warm and welcoming. Was not disappointed. My medium rare steak was sublime, as we're the home made onion rings (best I've tasted) and... More

Stayed one night locally in a b&b. We were recommended to eat at the white bear and we weren't disappointed. I had black pudding starter whilst my partner opted for desert instead. It was delicious!!! I chose rump steak and partner had steak & ale pie. Both were superb with home cooked chips & veg. Excellent service and very friendly... More

The Lamb Henry is to die for, and plenty of guest beers to try. A friendly village pub, with a wonderful restaurant serving good English food. Certainly worth a visit.

Called for an evening meal and was warmly welcomed by the licensees. The starter of sautéed garlic mushrooms was very good and this was followed by duck breast on a whisky marmalade sauce. Very tasty. My wife enjoyed her fish pie. It was a very pleasant experience and would recommend this place.

Great stop off point during a walk. Busy little spot - great haddock and chips. Lovely garden around the back with plenty parking.

We stayed for our first week in North Yorkshire and dropped really lucky. We stayed in a great cottage and then discovered the White Bear, less than a minute's walk away. The barman was very knowledgeable about the beer and helped us choose the Brown Ale and the Stout. Excellent pints, really well kept by the very friendly and helpful... More

We like trying out local pub food. Firstly let me say that when you have a Gluten Free child finding a 'pub' venue that caters for and knows that their Gravy, yorkshire pudding etc are all Gluten Free is brilliant. The White Bear Inn made it clear that only 1 item on their Kids menu is Gluten free, my heart... More

We were meeting up with friends near York and ate here twice. We were a group of 11 and then 14 and on both occasions the food and service was excellent. When we visited there were 5 ales on offer - all good. Great atmosphere in the pub and friendly owners. Lots of choices on the menu and plenty of... More
