The food was not as good as before Christmas, the standard was poor. We were very disappointed. The choice on each course was not as varied. Waiter did not know if the 'salted caramel tart' was chocolate he had to ask someone. It was chocolate coloured.

Cute, old wordly pub which serves traditional hearty food. Reasonably priced. Food quality good, portion size reasonable although we did have to ask for more vegetables. Staff friendly and obliging.

We went with a large group for an evening meal on Saturday night. The pub it's self is an old village pub which like a lot of village pubs now relies on serving food . The pub its self is a really nice old village pub and the village is around 15 minutes drive from York .The food was very... More

Love this restaurant of old worldly charm. Great food, inexpensive, well cooked and served. Good decent waitress service too. However, this is the third time I've potentially been overcharged by the diminutive Polish lady on the till. Today it was £72 when under questioning it should have been £37 ! This could cost The Chequers dear! Takes the shine off... More

Last minute decision, we had a great welcome, showed to our table and given our menu's. We only had the main course, superb, I had slow cooked pork belly, my partner had the beef dinners. Both accompanied by Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, plus an extra dish containing cauliflower cheese, new potatoes and red cabbage. Perfect!

Description
Welcome to The Chequers, Bilton-in-Ainsty. Located on the outskirts of York and a short drive from Harrogate and Leeds we are a country pub with accommodation.

With rolling hills on one side of the pub and a chocolate box village on the other, you're nestled in the perfect location to enjoy a tipple, dine in our restaurant or stay the night in one of our three letting rooms.

Serving a from a lunch menu in the day with some lighter bites we move to an evening menu from 5pm onwards. Sundays at The Chequers offers you a traditional Sunday lunch from midday till 8pm.
