100% recommend Betty's if your in York. You can either sit upstairs or down stairs. Me and my mum really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Lovely trip out

My brother and I had tea and scones at Betty's today. Very nice indeed. Something to note is that when it's busy you may be offered a table downstairs: I suggest you wait as there are no windows and it was rather warm. I also have a suggestion for anyone choosing the famous fat scones and that is to ask... More

The first time we have visited Betty's in York. What have we been missing. We went downstairs. There is a chair lift for anyone with difficulties. The atmosphere &food were first class. The waitress was excellent. We will be back.

Lovely atmospheric decor with lots of explanations of the history of the tea rooms. The prices were quite reasonable and the staff were lovelt and accommodating. We stopped in for a cream tea but there were lots of lunch items on the menu too.

Betty's tea rooms have a hidden treasure , at the front of Betty's are some stairs leading up to the Belmont room where to the gentle music played excellently on the piano you can sit and enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea . The atmosphere is relaxed and the tables are a good distance apart so you do not feel crowded,... More

My mum would rather go to Betty's than anywhere in the world. When she recovered from cancer we asked her where she would like to go most and she said here. So we took her like we have taken her many times before and every time she is overjoyed and loves every part of the experience.

Food at Betty's has always been brilliant, and it continues to be so with a distinctly Swiss Alpine influence (do you like melted cheese?). The coffee selection is excellent. Their offering of champagne is small but good. Nothing on the menu lacks flavour or quality. But, I do think it's a bit over prices for what can be simple cooking... More

My husband and my 9 month old daughter went to Betty's for cakes and tea. We sampled the Yorkshire Fat Rascal which was lovely! The staff accommodated my daughter really well and were so lovely and friendly to all of us! We will definely be back for a longer visit to sample afternoon tea as this looked fabulous!

Booked Lady Bettys Afternoon Tea in the Belmont Room: side entrance and pre-reservation means you don't have to queue (although it's a posher and more expensive menu). Enjoyed a full afternoon tea with a glass of rosé champagne for £44 each (incl £4 tip). Beautiful room and classy, old-fashioned sophistication, but the service was a little too obsequious and whilst... More

Visited Bettys for the first time recently as we had been given vouchers last year for our Ruby Anniversary, in the past when we have been in York & seen people queuing up we wondered what the attraction was. This time we were in the queue & quite happy to watch the goings on of the staff & the hustle... More
