I visited here whilst waiting for a job interview. From the moment I walked in the reception was frosty. The tables were dirty , mine had a drink spilt on it and was not wiped!! The waitress that served me was very rude and abrupt and lacked in customer service skills . My cake and tea were lovely and the... More

Very nice place to stop off for tea and cake. Staff are very friendly. Lots on the menu to choose from so you won't be stuck for choice. Situated in a lovely village.

Great find. Popular, good service and food. So popular, be prepared to wait for a table and the fresh cooked food. Well worth it, with good effective service. We were short on time, where we had to cancel one of our dishes, which was very well and appropriately handled by the experienced staff. Thank you.

We visited early January as a family with a pram. The staff were so helpful and assisted us. We eat rarebit and a club sandwich which were good portions and well preserved. Food took a little while to come but it was worth the wait. The food being served to others looked impressive - afternoon teas for example. Lots of... More

Huffkins is my absolute favourite place for afternoon tea. Burford and stow-on-the-wold are the particular faves. Great display. And they can always change what's in the sandwiches if you ask. Scones are amazing. And you get 10% off in the shop to afterwards. I take everyone there. Love this place

I try very hard not to write these kind of reviews but from the moment we stepped in the experience was not good. We hadn't booked and were quite happy to wait and this nice gentleman made eye contact with me and mouthed did we want the table. Obviously this exchange couldn't be heard so I said about it to... Great atmosphere in this cafe. Clean and tidy. Staff friendly. We ordered a pot of tea for two which was, as always, good. We were told there would be a wait for food which was appreciated as it's always good to be told this so we know we're not forgotten. It was about a 20 min wait for our lunch... More

We are not keen on eating lunch out because it is so often disappointing. Huffkins certainly is not. Selection of teas and actual leaf tea. Nlicely presented. Nice bread, thin chips. Really lovely. Cream teas look very hearty

We had a lovely pot of Earl Grey and some delicious scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam at Huffkins when we visited Burford in November. We had been there before some years ago and really enjoyed it so was looking forward to another visit and it's still just as good. Lovely fresh food and friendly efficient service. Thank you.

Description
Huffkins is a bit unusual. We are an independent family business with our own craft bakery and a heritage that stretches back to 1890. Established in Burford, at the heart of the Cotswolds, by Mr Titcombe our breads and cakes were originally delivered by donkey and cart. Given the impracticalities of donkeys we have modernised some things over the years - but we still bake everything by hand. Our bakers work through the night to create everything from the bread for our sandwiches to the fresh cream cakes in our shops. We believe very firmly in sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible. Now whilst there is clearly not an abundance of tuna fish in the local rivers there are surprisingly few things that do not grow in the Cotswolds. And when we do grow something it tends to be good. Very good in fact. Our chefs take a keen interest in every ingredient that enters our kitchens from field to plate. So when, for instance, you ask for a sausage bap at Huffkins you can expect Cotswold pork sausages made by WJ Castles of Burford to our own traditional recipe in a handmade bap from our bakery made with FWP Matthew's flour from Shipton under Wychwood, served with Huffkins spicy tomato ketchup made at our own kitchen in Stow-on-the-Wold. We believe in real Cotswold food. Even our teas, which we buy directly from the finest small producers around the world are blended with local ingredients including Cotswold fruits and lavender from Snowshill near Broadway. The only thing we cannot get to grow locally is good staff - so regrettably you are stuck with whatever we could find. Many have been with us an awfully long time. Too long perhaps. Yet all jokes apart many of the team hold awards for 3, 5, 10 and even 15 years of service. Just look out for coloured lapel pins if you fancy spotting the old-timers.
