My wife and I decide to take our Labrador for a very long cross country walk with a view to have a drink and maybe a bite to eat at the rose and crown. We walked a 4 miles trek with anticipation of a warm...More

I'd review this pub as average - very good. The food was nice & good value for home cooked style but I was surprised to learn that it's in the good food guide, we travelled over 40 miles to go to this pub at a...More
Got to be up there with one of the worst lunch ever.....met without a smile...lunch menus put down on the bar and pointed to the corner where we obviously had been placed....ordered a couple of drinks and squeezed into the tiny space allocated to us...the...More
We had a lovely warm welcome from a friendly young lady. We called on a Friday afternoon to finish off our lovely weeks holiday in the Cotswolds. We had steak and ale pie, which was rich, tasty and the beef was falling apart. I had...More
Thank you for your lovely review, our Steak Ale & Mushroom Pie does seem to have a special reputation! We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to the Cotswolds. Martin Coldicott
Just 2.5 miles from over-priced and over-commercialised Burford we stumbled on this well kept secret of a pub courtesy of the Good Pub Guide for lunch one Thursday. in early October. Table booked by roaring wood fire; service, food quality, presentation, ambience and value for...More
Thank you for your lovely review. We may well be a bit of a well kept secret, as I don't believe in advertising, (I let our cooking do the talking!) You mention that you found us in The Good Pub Guide, and I am proud...More
We had another lovely lunch in this pretty pub. Great Sunday roast with historic roast potatoes. Their signature pudding - bread & butter - good as ever. Our guests thought it was far superior to any other places around.
Thank you for your review. Sunday lunch is such an important service for a country pub, and we work extremely hard to get every element right; Mike, our head chef, was justifiable proud of your praise of his roast potatoes! Martin Coldicott
My husband and I went here to celebrate his birthday whilst in Burford on holiday. We were given a most cheerful welcome the very first time we visited the establishment - just for a drink initially. Deciding it looked good we booked a table for...More
Thank you, what a lovely review, and so kind of you to take the time. I'm so glad you found us good value; our cooking style is to do 'simple' food extremely well, with none of the nonsense, (if you know what I mean!); but...More
After arriving later than planned at the caravan park, we decided to go out for dinner. The Rose & Crown is clearly sign posted near to the site, so we thought "why not.," We were warmly greated and shown to our table. This beautiful quaint...More
Thank you for your kind review; we have many customers coming from the Burford Caravan Club site, quite a few have become 'regulars' over the last 11 years that I have had the pub.
We had stumbled across this pub following a visit to the nearby Blue Cross Animal Shelter - on that occasion it was too busy to get in but looked so good that we promised ourselves that would return and I'm glad we did. There was...More
