Visited this place today on the off chance as had not booked. Friendly welcoming man behind the bar with lovely waiters/waitresses. Service was a little slow but they were busy so acceptable. Ordered the haddock with chips and salad which was cooked to perfection and...More

OK sums it up. Beer was cloudy but replaced when highlighted and gin came without choice of tonic but again replaced when mentioned. The shared platter of meat was OK, nothing to write home about. For mains we had steak which was a bit tough,...More

Very nice meal with great service headed by Damien the resTarrant manager who could not have been more attentive. Nice bottle of wine and wonderful liqueur coffees. We had the trio of roasts which was fantastic. Will definitely return.

We've been coming to this pub/restaurant for many years and it was really good to see how the current owner turned it into a really nice restaurant. On our last visit I felt really sad to realise that it's not as good as it used...More

The food here is delightful. We scheduled a late reservation and found that the menu items we wanted were sold out. While annoying in the moment, I appreciate the big picture. I would much rather have a restaurant have limited amounts of fresh food than...More

Attractive restaurant, menu reads well, unfortunately the food doesn't match expectation. Visited with family and tried a variety of dishes between us. Unfortunately all were disappointed. Yorkshire puddings were dry and crisp. Fish was measley and not fresh. Thai salad was 75% cucumber. What should...More

Please don't serve pre-cooked re-heated Yorkshire puddings. They should be freshly baked, not brittle, tasteless and as dry as old sticks. Please roast meat properly, it still had too much connective tissue through it, and make ungloopy gravy served in a gravy boat not already...More

Very disappointing flavourless very thinly cut meat and gravy with overcooked vegetables and watery cauliflower cheese. I didn't try desert as main was so disappointing.

Oddly, the Postman recommended this restaurant to us after getting directions from him. My husband had the fish platter, an assortment of sardines, shrimp to mackerel and a couple more he was in heaven, everything done and presented beautifully. I had the cauliflower apple soup;...More

Please can you review how you present Sunday lunch? From the way you present your food and the passion you clearly show it was strange to see cold, brittle and burnt Yorkshire puddings on 5 of the 6 plates... looking at other tables they too were similarly served. It may be better not to serve them if you find you have to pre-cook and reheat- I know you have to mass produce a lot for Sunday roasts but please do a quality review to see how you can serve them freshly baked? The roast beef was so evenly sliced it may be factory pre-cooked? The connective tissue was un-rendered in the slices I had which was unpleasant - again possibly because of the sheer number you have to get through I appreciate that you have to get through a lot of work but might be worth a review to check? Lastly the gravy served was over thickened and gloopy- possibly a batch that had been rushed late in the serving but it would be good to serve in gravy boats rather than cover the meat/ boiled veg on every plate, so people have the choice to serve themselves with what they want? I appreciate that Sunday roasts are hard work but with such a big turnover it would be worth checking things that might be slipping through that you may not be aware of, through no fault of your front of house staff who were friendly and helpful and lovely.
