A good pub with an interesting menu. Drinks good too. It's a shame they've cancelled the jazz every Sunday as that was my main reason for choosing this pub for Sunday lunch.

Hi Kilmanbongo Thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor and glad that you find the place appealing. I understand the frustrations with the cancellation of the jazz at lunchtimes but we have done this the last couple of summers as people tend to enjoy our gardens more so then and it's not fair to the guys... Four of us came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Had a variety of starters all very nice and all had steak. Was very well cooked and well presented. Was good value for money as well. So certainly worth a visit. Plus they have a great selection of lagers and ales as well. All different ones and one's you... More

My sister visited me and on our way home we decided to stop by at the Abbot and we tried the Duck Leg and the Seafood Linguine. The plates look amazing and they tasted so good. Very friendly pub.

I have been to the Abbot Cook three times in the last few years, and each time has been great. Twice I've been with the fencing team for our Christmas do, one of which I organised, and both times the staff and people were lovely; when I organised a meal for us, the staff were incredibly helpful and patient, and... Visited there with friends on Mothers day in the evening so the place was not busy at all. Place was dirty full of papers and other debris on the floor. No one noticed? We found a nice corner table and ordered. Food was borderline average. My cod was overfried, chips were overcooked and the quality of ingredients was poor especially... More

This is a smashing local. Huge range of craft beers that change regularly. Food is pretty good - the usual gastric pub favorites - and decor is vintage and quirky but not contrived. Pub quiz on Mondays is always good fun and offers the last place 'wooden spooners' a chance to walk away with a free cheese board. A great... More

My family and I have been here on several occasions for meals and twice now for Sunday lunch. The roasts do not disappoint and the yorks puddings are huge. Very friendly staff and good range of beers. A local band is sometimes playing which adds to the atmosphere.

Description
A Reading pub with a relaxing vibe. Regulars say The Abbot Cook has 'the best beer garden in Reading', but that's not entirely true; it has two. With a line-up of entertainment as eclectic as its top-drawer drinks list, there's also plenty going on inside this Cemetery Junction pub. Don't get us wrong, though: we're more 'gently buzzing' than rowdy and raucous. Our eclectic interior lends itself to a relaxed chilled out drink after work as well as a dining experience to celebrate those special occasions.
