Sadly, it was for all the wrong reasons that dinner at this small establishment was memorable. I had onion soup and cod and ratatouille. Both were reasonably generous albeit unexceptional. The prawns in my partner's prawn pot were thin and fiddly to de-head and de-shell. The effort was too much so we ended up swapping. In contrast his cassoulet was... More

Went as a last minute booking to the restaurant, booked due to the ratings on Trip Adviser. Went in on the day to book for the evening as was greeted by a polite female employee. Meal in the evening was fresh, well cooked and well prepared, very quirky inside the restaurant but suited the atmosphere and the staff members. Would... More

Chose the restaurant from the reviews, unfortunately the lunch never lived up to its reputation. The young lady who looked after the restaurant on her own was excellent, the food never got beyond very ordinary. Snails and smoked salmon with lime very good starters, the mains, simply appalling. The duck was so burnt and tough it was inedible, the pork... More

We were lucky to secure a table over Easter and were pleasantly surprised with the menu and the subsequent food. Relaxed and cosy environment in an attractive restaurant. However, the cassoulet did not have a real Toulouse type sausage in but one of the spongy types you get from a roadside cafe which let the entire meal down. Sorry.

We had a 6pm dinner here with our two young daughters. Even at that time, booking essential. This restaurant had been recommended by our B&B proprietor, and I knew we were on to a winner by the gorgeousness of the bread that arrived with our drinks. I had the sizzling prawn pot (gorgeous), husband the onion soup (totally gorgeous!). The... More

Delicious French style food in a lovely French atmosphere. Very generous portions. On reflection we could have had one portion of the duck cottage pie and vegetables between us then we may have had room for a dessert. As it was, we were full. would highly recommend, but book to avoid disappointment. Waitresses charming and thoughtful.

This was our third visit and it went wrong from the start. We were told that they had no gluten free bread because 'everyone at lunch time was gluten free'. French fries were offered as an alternative! Tesco is a short walk down the hill with a wide selection for sale and open all day. As we were ordering our... More

I agree with Nick S, Gastromeister's review is baffling. However a man who has reviewed 11 places with previously blemish free ratings and finds 50% of them to be either terrible or poor is frankly having a tin bath. We arrived for a special occasion lunch in March and unfortunately the young lady that greeted us, although very polite and... More

My partner and I tried to eat here when we were in the area a few years ago and finally managed to eat here and we weren't disappointed! I had the tuna and mango starter and the duck main. I wish I had the space for pudding. The service was very genuine and the waitresses were super friendly. Will definitely... More

We called in by chance on 31/03/17. Excellent food and service - mystified as to why the most recent reviewer should have had such a bad experience. Starters were rillettes, and our main courses were the cassoulet and duck. Desserts were the creme brulee and tart tartin. We were served by Jemima, for whom nothing was too much trouble. We...
