When I was at school, the daring “in crowd” used to frequent the Salamander coffee bar as it was then but my brother and I were too sheltered to join in!! 50 years later, on a trip to Bath for the theatre, we enjoyed a...More

We just returned from a delicious dinner at The Salamander. We had booked on Open Table because we weren’t sure how busy it would be. Monday night, 6:30 pm, no worries about it being packed. I think a bit early for the locals. The bar...More

Bar downstairs (place your order there), kitchen and table space up. Traditional pub menu with a few twists. Good local ales. Nice atmosphere and very good service.

Nice little pub. Good traditional food. I had the fish and chips. The ales are local. The bartender was friendly and helpful. The decor was modern traditional, sleek and clean with older elements. Would be nice for a beer or a meal.

We were recommended this place by our taxi driver who took us there. A great find. Only used for drinks and not food but the menu looks interesting. The Bath Ales were excellent especially "Prophecy". Will certainly visit again.

Visited twice - for drinks and then for coffee - and could not recommend this pub any higher. Excellent beer, great atmosphere and super friendly lady behind the bar. Find it and go there!

Visited last evening - four of us. The beer might be good, but the food was atrocious. The chap at the table behind us sent his back - we should have done likewise. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but it was bad! The...More

The Salamander is one of Bath’s oldest traditional pubs. No frills. Wooden floors a wooden bar with stools and a few tables but it is a great place for a drink. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The bartender is very knowledgeable about the Bath...More

Called in to the Salamander whilst visiting bath and despite it being packed to the rafters, the staff were still really polite and we enjoyed our visit.

Hey. There are two extract doors and both have a small step, so I wouldn't say it's wheelchair friendly. You can see the front door on google maps which gives you a better idea of space.

The Salamander is great city-centre pub. 'The Sally' serves good food and a fine choice of beers from Bath Ales and beyond, and welcomes a friendly, eclectic audience. It's small, it's snug but it's oh so special! The Salamander is tucked neatly away just off Queen Square in the heart of the Georgian city of Bath. Historically a 'steak and chop house', it now consists of a well-stocked bar on the ground floor and an impressive dining room complete with galley kitchen upstairs. Using the finest produce from local suppliers, 'The Sally' is renowned for its imaginative and varied menu, available both downstairs in the bar and upstairs.
