A decent sized pub serving some excellent ales including most if not all of the Bath Ales range. Plenty of places to sit or stand and excellent service.

Great atmosphere downstairs with a lovely selection of wine & beers and fab staff. The restaurant upstairs was freezing cold and the food average (particularly the gravy which lacked flavour). It's a real shame the food let's the place down.

It's not very often I say this but the Sunday roast left a great taste in my mouth. I had the roast chicken which came with Sage and Onion stuffing, veggies and potatoes, gravy. All done well. I also like the cosy dining room upstairs...More

There was a great atmosphere here on 31st Oct with staff dressed up. Very friendly (upstairs dining area). Group of four. Two meals were good and two not so good. Upmarket menu but I was disappointed with the standard of the meat in the recipes....More

We stopped by for lunch in Bath city centre. This is a pub where sandwiches are under a tenner and don't come with a handful of chips to judtify an inflated price, thank goodness! Hubby loved the choice of Bath ales and tried the Forest...More

Superb selection of beer and clearly well kept. Cosy atmosphere and polite and helpful staff. We located this after Googling for a good pub. We're so delighted we were posted to the direction of this place.

Overall it was a great experience. Waiter was exceptional however as we were the only table to dine upstairs it lacked atmosphere - no music or people. The family raved about the fish and chips and the pie - however the vegetarian crumble was so...More

Hi Rankinfoodie here. Revisited the Salamander - and as good as before. In a nice street - opposite Bath's best bookshop. Good selection of Bath Ales. Nice for a pint before eating next door at the Firehouse - indeed nice for a pint any time!

There are two things that you must do when you are in Bath, visit the cheese shop, Paxton and Whitfield, and just around the corner, The Salamander. If I owned a pub, this would be it. The staff a great, the beers are great and...More

Hi the table we had was upstairs. I'm unsure if there was a lift. It is spread across a few levels. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Description
The Salamander is great city-centre pub.
'The Sally' serves good food and a fine choice of beers from Bath Ales and beyond, and welcomes a friendly, eclectic audience. It's small, it's snug but it's oh so special! The Salamander is tucked neatly away just off Queen Square in the heart of the Georgian city of Bath.
Historically a 'steak and chop house', it now consists of a well-stocked bar on the ground floor and an impressive dining room complete with galley kitchen upstairs. Using the finest produce from local suppliers, 'The Sally' is renowned for its imaginative and varied menu, available both downstairs in the bar and upstairs.
