I'm almost tempted not to wriote this so this gem stays undiscovered. Quiet, no music or electronics, real fires in winter, beer served from the barrel. Old school and all the better for it

As always a warm welcome from whoever is behind the bar, with the first coal fire of the autumn adding to the ambience and atmosphere. Very popular on a Monday night when others are quiet or closed early and the locals love it for its old world charm. Kernow was in fine form as Sooty and Noodle were elsewhere !!!

A traditional old pub. No loud music and no poker machines, which we found enjoyable and fun. Staff and the locals were very friendly as well. Worthwhile visit.

This a really quirky pub with an old world charm .If you like modern wine bar style venues this pub may not be for you, unless you fancy something more 'real' for a change! This pub comes into its own in the winter with its open fires and, hobbit style, wooden benches and nooks and crannies in which to sit.The... More

Fantastic pub, amazing beer, a great selection and old, wood panelled rooms! This pub is a must if you are on a pub tour in Bath, but it is always very-very busy, especially in the weekend. Children are welcome too as the place is family friendly.

The Star was always known for its jugs of Bass but in recent years it has been run by Alan Morgan who is Abbey Ales. This beer is brewed just up the road and until recently was the only beer brewed in Bath. They of course serve their beers but also have guest beers available, there being two today. The pub... More

What a great pub! I didn't think places like this existed any more. Tiny, wood-panelled rooms with the walls covered in old photos and memorabilia, a friendly welcome and a great selection of beers including Bass served straight from the barrel which was like nectar. Will live long in the memory!

If you like beer then this old pub is a must. I have never tasted such amazing beer. Stored in a barrel behind the bar, poured into a jug and then our glasses, just fantastic. It is a really friendly place with lots of little areas to chat away to friends or just other people who happen to be there.

I wound my way uphill along the superb Georgian architecture of The Paragon and waiting for me at the crest was this brilliant little pub, The Star Inn. It’s so full of character and characters. You’re greeted by the fine wooden panelled interior, as you precede though dark evocative rooms, feeling straight out of a Dickensian story, into the main... More

This wonderful old pub is under a protection order so the owners are unable to change anything of significance. When you enter it is like stepping back in time. A great experience.
