The red lion....pretty grim if you ask me. The pints are watered down or taste different to how they should, the atmosphere is somewhat amiss. And the smell that lingers in the air resembles that of a stale egg. It's not the greatest of places so I'd probably spend a little extra and get a taxi into town. The drinks... More

Poor/average food. Very basic. Starters were okay. Our main was immediately brought out as our plates were clearer so knew it had been sat under the heat lamp for a while. Cheap but I'd rather pay more and get better quality. Table behind us was left a state and uncleared for the whole time we were there. Looked awful. Staff... More

Came as a group of 3. Nachos and chicken wings for starter. Nachos were over done with minimal cheese. Wings were okay but drenched in BBQ sauce I could hardly pick them up. Mains weren't much better. Fish and chips were average as you can't go wrong with that. Hunters chicken was nice. I had a burger which they forgot... More

We called in today for the five pound breakfast with unlimited tea and coffee for extra quid , we timed it just right at 9.30 as still quiet, but got busy towards 10, The breakfast is brilliant value, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs , beans , onions ,chopped potatoes , tomato, and toast, all quality stuff, not that tesco... Nice breakfast £5 for a big brekkie. Down side was it is served on a skillet and so quite small and piled high - hard to eat from. The onions at the bottom were barely cooked so let it down slightly. Everything else lovely. Tea and coffee unlimited for £1 extra, they advertise other hot drinks but when we asked... More

You get exactly what you expect, three course Christmas meal for six, £74 and that was including a £2.00m supplement for a steak. Yes it's a very cheap meal but it was just fine, great service, all very nicely done, crackers and napkins too we all loved it!

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are very glad you enjoyed your meal, and value of food. Please accept our apologises in reference to our bar man. We will investigate and find out why he wasn't cheerful or very helpful and hopefully stop this from re-occurring. Not cheerful and not smiling can put a dampner on any occasion.... More
