This place is so cosy and friendly. I had a scrumptious mushroom soup followed by a butternut pasta dish which was delicious but I could only manage half of it. My other half really enjoyed his hake dish. No time for pud sadly, next time.

Very good pub. The food was excellent simple and fresh with a certain sophisticated touch. The service was very attentive and took some time between courses but we didn't mind because the ambience was so nice. We had three children in the party and they were very kind to them. I would recommend this pub. The price was also quite... More

Been here several times and always a nice expereince. If it has any faults at all it is occasionally the service is a bit erratic and they seem understaffed around the bar.

After all the good reviews we were very disappointed. The beetroot tart starter was uninspiring, but the mackerel starter was tasty as was the hake and chips. The service was friendly but terribly slow. We came in for a pre-theatre meal as advertised on website and not available, no sense of urgency. We wont be back.

Not long ago me and my friends came by, not only did we have a great night but we were located in a stunning room, almost on our own although we did not have this arranged to do so which was amazing. To begin with all our food was served in a great manner, amazingly presnted with increadible taste. Each... More

If everything had been up to the standard of the haddock chowder (which was delicious) it would have been happy days. But, unfortunately it was not. The beetroot tart was cold, which is fair enough, had the parted not begun to dry out and become hard, the feta mousse it came with was just a piece of feta and the... More

Very good food for our valentine meal, very friendly staff but not intrusive. The food was lovely but the main course was brought about 5 minutes after our aperitif, making us feel rushed. We had the chicken and salmon, both of which were beautifully cooked and well-presented, the desserts were very good and the wine list gave a good choice.... More

Food was very good. There is a set lunch menu or a bar menu. I had a homemade soup with triple cooked chips followed by sorbet for dessert as I only wanted a light lunch but I was still pleasantly full. Other people in my party had the set menu and the veggie burger from the bar menu and were... More

Last time I came here I was blown away by the food and ambience. This time however I thought it was good. Good is not what I remembered. I remembered fantastic. The chicken was nothing special and looked unappealing. Almost colourless and just dumped on a dollop of mash. The Cornish hake however was very nice as was the Chilean... More

Visited the King William for Sunday lunch with friends. I had been to the King William a few years before and it was fantastic and I'm glad it is just as good now. We all had three courses including the terrine, roast and sorbet - all absolutely fantastic! The roast is really one of the best in Bath. I won't... More

Description
When the King William restaurant in Bath was converted from the knackered pub it used to be, it became it gastronomic hotspot for Bath-ites who adore the excellent food and relaxed setting. The ground floor is a pub, with the fine dining room upstairs, all now eclectically kitted out with in shades of mauve with antiques, chandeliers and daily blackboard specials. Seasonal, free-range, organic and local sum up the provenance perfectly, for dishes like fried squid with fennel, ruby chard and green sauce and main of fantastic braised lamb for two with herb broth, mash and local greens. Superb small-producer beers and ales and a blistering wine list crown King William a top restaurant in Bath.
