We fell into this place by accident whilst doing a canal walk and finding it nearby on Google maps. What luck. There is a lovely family run place with charming staff and we felt most welcome. The food was excellent and I particularly liked the...More

It’s unpleasant to read this angry review, and for you to say that our previous tripadvisor reviews are false is not at all fair. We do not like anyone to leave disappointed with the Bathwick Boatman, we take all criticism very seriously which is why...More

Out for dinner. I get to eat out a lot, and this restaurant is special. I’d decided it would be my favourite restaurant before we’d even got our food. Warm welcome. Lovely smells. Cosy and friendly. A menu where I wanted to order everything. Gin...More

We arrived in the snow...sadly the restaurant was quiet. Our vegetarian food was really tasty and the setting was lovely. It’s a shame about the weather it’s clear to see there would have been a lovely atmosphere had the restaurant been busy.

Stunning location, really excellent foot and staff attitude. A real pleasure to find somewhere near the MacDonald Bath Spa Hotel to eat and not break the bank rather than the hotels own which is very stuffy by comparison.

The food and service were excellent. However the portions were on the small side for the price we paid.

Excellent food, unique venue overlooking the river, genuine and bespoke customer service, nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 10 celebrating together as a family. There were several other large groups there too but we still received very special attention and were...More

I found this restaurant on line. I did not know it or had visited before. I booked because of the good reviews. I was in Bath for the weekend for my 70th birthday. I was looking for a place for a decent number of my...More

I would (hopefully) say NOT, since I have never seen any 'pets' in over 20 visits, and the one room restaurant is not very big. Personally I would be glad such if pets are kept out of there as there are no facilities for... More

The car park is quite small, but (only on a Sunday) you can park in one of the side streets just outside the gate - including where it says residents only. I have had to park outside the gate a few times (a local resident... More

The Bathwick Boatman is a tranquil slice of gastronomic heaven, located just 10 minutes stroll from Bath's city centre on the picture-perfect banks of the River Avon. Run by husband and wife restaurateur team Ben and Rosy Hall, the restaurant is set in an old rowing club with beautiful river views and a cosy, rustic ambience. After training in Italy and Spain, Ben worked in Miami before returning home to Britain, and his simple, seasonal menu is full of robust flavours and represents good old-fashioned value for money. The Bathwick Boatman has a divine summer terrace, and is perched just above Bath's historic boating station, where you can hire a punt or a rowing boat for a post-meal paddle.
