We visited Bath for my birthday and wanted a restaurant that was quiet and cosy, with great food but a relaxed atmosphere - and that's how we came across this little gem. From outside, you could tell it's setting you up for a good night - the food wafting from the kitchen smelled amazing already. The decor is relaxed yet... More

A group of 6 of us had dinner here last Friday. We were just visiting Bath for the weekend so were not familiar with local restaurants. However this was a real gem to find. All the food was excellent, with a gluten free request being of no problem. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The restaurant... More

My husband and I wanted to have a relaxed wedding reception, so the Bathwick Boatman was our choice. From the minute we got in touch to the day of the wedding itself everything was organized in the best way possible, especially because we had the ceremony at the Guildhall and headed to the restaurant by boat. Rosy and her team... More

Searched 'places to eat by the canal'. Stunning location, we sat outside for an early table booking. Attentive friendly staff. Lovely menu to choose from. Great service, delisious food, great value too. Best steak iav ever eaten, and best chocolates and peanut butter cheesecake, ice cream was just amazing. Want to go back already, very romantic, we loved it .... More

This restaurant is nowhere near the city centre but is still well worth the visit, not least because of the fine views of the river. We enjoyed a delightful sunday lunch here - friendly, attentive service and an unpretentious menu which featured gorgeous home-made desserts. It is also heartening to see that they source quality, local ingredients wherever possible. Book... More

Fantastic food, lovely views, romantic, inviting, I could create an endless list of positive adjectives about this little find. I'm pretty sure the waitress who served us was called Ceri and she was so kind and welcoming too. We had an amazing night to end our incredible mini romantic break in Bath.

We were a group of friends passing through Bath for one Saturday night during a canal boating weekend. We'd eventually 'parked' our boat, having accidentally passed through 2 additional locks (in both directions) and were hungry! We walked into town having no idea where we were or where we were going. We stopped and asked several people in the street... More

I have to say but I'm so glad I chose this restaurant from trip advisor. The food was exquisite food and the hostess was very friendly. The restaurant it's self was cosy and inviting. Definitely will recommend and go back myself. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Description
The Bathwick Boatman is a tranquil slice of gastronomic heaven, located just 10 minutes stroll from Bath's city centre on the picture-perfect banks of the River Avon. Run by husband and wife restaurateur team Ben and Rosy Hall, the restaurant is set in an old rowing club with beautiful river views and a cosy, rustic ambience. After training in Italy and Spain, Ben worked in Miami before returning home to Britain, and his simple, seasonal menu is full of robust flavours and represents good old-fashioned value for money. The Bathwick Boatman has a divine summer terrace, and is perched just above Bath's historic boating station, where you can hire a punt or a rowing boat for a post-meal paddle.
