A decent meal, but nothing to write home about. My Casear's salad was a little heavy, especially the thick dressing. I'd have preferred a more refined dish. The staff seemed overwhelmed. We were about the leave after waiting for an eternity for our food. To...More

Wells Cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful and this nearby pub is breathtakingly awful ! Rude staff and poor quality over-priced food. Dreary atmosphere. The sort of tourist rip-off dump which makes one embarrassed to see foreign visitors going in.

Most pubs stop serving food at 2-3pm but this one is 4pm. Great pub lunches and a reasonable price. Don't be put off by the small bar at the entrance as the pub is very long with a small courtyard at the back.

This pub rates well with me and my family. Not only did we enjoy good food with a difference, it was accompanied with good coffee and a warm welcome. Worth dropping by!

Dropped in for a light lunch bite. My wife had an excellent baked potato with cheese and beans and I had a bacon baguette with bacon and Brie. Only 2 real ales in barrels behind the bar, the one I tried was very passable. However,...More

We're one of Wells' oldest and most central pubs, occupying an early-14th century building right in the middle of the High St. Whether you're looking for a light lunch, a hearty dinner, a quiet drink with friends, some of the best cask ales in the city or a lively weekend night out, we have it all!Give us a try on your visit to Wells, you won't be disappointed! Please note: TripAdvisor hasn't yet got a 'pub' category, so we're listed as a 'restaurant'. Whilst we serve fantastic, locally sourced and freshly prepared food, we are still a real, local pub at heart and our menu is therefore real pub grub done well, along with al of the other great things you'd expect from a fantastic local...
