We popped into this Pub for a quick drink, and even that was too long. The place was dirty and had a funny smell. The glasses were not of a standard in which I even wanted to finish my drink! Avoid at all costs.

Had a day out to Wells & we popped into the King's Head for a "quick" lunch & a few drinks....never again. It was a Saturday (15th Nov) & around 2pm, we walked in & ordered drinks to be told by the barmaid that "I don't know how to put drinks on a tab". So we left that one go,... More

Looked like decent pub grub the large portion of lasagne didn't really need chips and garlic bread as we'll but it's the first time I've had lots of gooey melted cheese on top instead of sauce on the calorie front not to be repeated On a more serious front the disabled loo doesn't comply as far as the handle and... We dropped in for something to eat while visiting Wells. I feel a little bad giving this an average rating but I really wasn't impressed. The place is lovely and I can't fault the staff, they were very pleasant and friendly but the food really wasn't.

Great little pub. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Good beer. Good food. We ordered the chicken balti which was very tasty with loads of chicken and the steak pie. Unfortunately they had sold out of pies as they are home made. Offered steak in its place. Both meals were very tasty and good value. Quick service. We would return again.

Very friendly staff & very old place. A lot of the old parts of the building have been preserved & they have some lovely seating. One such is a huge settle with fantastic carvings, this is well worth a visit. we did not eat there but went in couple of times for drinks.

We popped in here for a bite to eat whilst visiting the Cathedral in Wells. The staff were friendly The food was a bit basic which was actually what we wanted. The front part of the pub is much nicer then the rear as it's in the older part.

While my wife and I were looking for a place to eat, we found ourselves outside this choice - so thought we'd take a chance. What a remarkably inspired choice, the food was amazing. The kitchen has an open viewing area and from where we were seated we could see the great care and pride that the chef was taking... More

We visit family in Somerset two or three times a year and we last visited the Kings Head last Easter. At that time we were made to feel welcome the food was home made and service was with a smile. Fast forward to September, no friendly greeting what appears to be microwave food and low quality beer. We will be... More

We're one of Wells' oldest and most central pubs, occupying an early-14th century building right in the middle of the High St. Whether you're looking for a light lunch, a hearty dinner, a quiet drink with friends, some of the best cask ales in the city or a lively weekend night out, we have it all!Give us a try on your visit to Wells, you won't be disappointed! Please note: TripAdvisor hasn't yet got a 'pub' category, so we're listed as a 'restaurant'. Whilst we serve fantastic, locally sourced and freshly prepared food, we are still a real, local pub at heart and our menu is therefore real pub grub done well, along with al of the other great things you'd expect from a fantastic local...
