While the ambience and service was good, the food was but average. My soup tasted good and plentiful, but had unknown additives. The allegedly Gourmet Burger was anything but, the meat was dry and heavy, the bun dry and it contained a cold piece of...More

Delicious meals beautifully presented. Worth a visit. Varied menu with excellent vegetarian options. Husband loved the ostrich and would definitely order again.

Spur of the moment visit but able to be seated without a wait. It was busy but not packed. The steak was beautiful, tender and tasty and the mackerel was also very good. Friendly staff, who didn't rush us. Would recommend

The Mr Penn after whom Pennsylvania once addressed 3,000 people in the square. His Quaker religion was out-lawed so he went to America. Much more history on the back of the menu. We are well - black pudding and bacon salad was a delight

We have nearly 60 dishes to choose from, so not sure what you deem as minimal. Sorry you were not happy with your salad - we don't put vinegar on salad, just dressing. Please, in future, if you're really not happy, say. Good for us...More

Stopped off for lunch had ham egg chips and venison steak. Good size portion. Venison was bit over done but tasty. Cheesecake and cheeseboard for afters. I asked for excess cheese to be wrapped in foil to take away and waitress was obliging.
