We had breakfast here as a family last week. The staff were friendly and it was good value. The food was average - pancakes weren't cooked well and you could taste the pancake mix. The croissant was very salty. My daughters ordered hot chocolates which...More

Authentic cafe in the heart of Bury St. Edmunds. We were looking for a place that was near the market and offered a variety of food. We loved the lattes, the food was delicious, and the staff was friendly. They have extra seating upstairs, which...More

A very nice cafe/restaurant in the centre of Bury St Edmunds. Both our courses were obviously cooked fresh from scratch.

I called in to The Baytree for a spot of lunch. And enjoyed the sea bass with roasted Mediterranean vegetables. I was not to be disappointed, the food here was as good as ever. Good service by friendly staff.

This was our first visit to the Bay Tree and we'll certainly be heading back. The daily special of fresh salmon on kale risotto was beyond delicious and the roasted vegetable panini was just as tasty. The large panini also came with a generously sized...More

The Bay Tree Cafe Bistro has been an integral part of St Johns Street, one the loveliest areas in Bury St Edmunds, for more than 15 years.

Being one the oldest buildings in the street we have been careful not go overboard with modernisation by keeping the interior subtle and furniture simple to offer a balance of cosy cafe and with a hint of modern bistro. With dining rooms on both the ground and first floors it is deceptively larger that it first appears.

Our hope is that the Bay Tree's menus offer something for everyone; vegetarian dishes, dishes suitable for special diets and child portions.
