Whilst the food is ok be prepared for a hefty bill. Starters at £11 and £9.50 , basket of 4 slices of bread £4 , glass of wine £8.90 . You get the idea ! There are so many great places to eat in Woodbridge and beyond that use fresh and locally sourced ingredients and don't charge these extortionate prices... More

Dear Joycehogg76, I'm not sure you have the correct pub. We have two log fires and underfloor heating. We are usually too toasty if anything. We have also only been reopened a year and you sound like you are talking about somewhere that has been around for a while. However if it is us you are talking about I am... More

My wife and I were rather unadventurous on first visit here by choosing cod and chips and beef burger but I have to say that both dishes were excellent. My cod was fresh and cooked to perfection whilst the chips were, most probably, the best I have ever had in a pub. The crushed minted peas and home made tartar... More

Stumbled upon this establishment quite by chance on Trip Advisor, whilst carrying out a search on "eating in Ipswich", so decided to give it a try. We had a superb three-course Sunday lunch and I have been trying to convince my husband it is not "too soon to return" since. Definitely worth a try. You won't be disappointed. Whilst there,... The menu is interesting with a good variety - we tried most of it ! Every dish was very good. Can fully recommend the scallops and tandoori pheasant starters. Good portion sizes for the main courses, the duck was good. And a very nice selection of desserts. Pleasant service made for a good night. It was only on the way... More

Dear Kel999, You should certainly come back for the Monkey47! We have around 20 gins behind the bar and hold regular gin festivals. Our next beer, cider and gin festival with spicy street food is on 28,29 and 30th April. We will have a gin bar with 25 gins with recommended garnishes. All the best Jemima More

Visited for a small reunion with old work colleagues where we had their tea and cake deal for 10 quid a head Couple of beers first which tasted like they were well kept. The cakes that then came were knock out. The chocolate brownie has been made by the devil himself, it is amazing and must be terrible for you!... More

Is it a pub trying to be a restaurant or a restaurant that has a bar? The food was good but not great, as was the service, not good enough for the prices charged. I left slightly underwhelmed as I had booked the table a month in advance and had been looking forward to a 'special' night. Not to be... More

Dear lawol59 We are most definitely a pub with a restaurant. We take our beer very seriously and have a loyal following of regulars in the bar. Thats how we managed to get into the final of the Great British Pub Awards, Best Newcomer. However we also take our food very seriously which is how we have managed to get... More
