I've been to Bistro Forty Six twice. The first visit was for a casual lunch where I ate what is probably the world's greatest steak sandwich. The second time was a private party and despite catering for lareg numbers the general concensus was that the...More

I’ve been to Bistro 46 twice this week (and about four times before) so that should speak for itself really. It is an absolute hidden gem of a place. First trip was with a family group and we all had different dishes. No complaints on...More

From the minute we walked in to the second we left, the service, the food and the atmosphere could not be faulted. I'd been meaning to visit Bistro Forty Six for months but never found the occasion until now - my mum's 60th. Trust me,...More

Looking at the previous good reviews we decided to try this local bistro . I must stress we eat out regularly and are rarely disappointed. The bistro is basic in layout with little atmosphere. The food was expensive and very disappointing. My steak was sent...More

Small restaurant, maximum about 40 covers. Great service, great food. Quick appraisal. It was great. If I was finding fault suggest main course came a little too quickly after starters cleared away. I had wood pigeon and perhaps a little more generous on the meat...More

Bistro is one of the best restaurants in Newcastle. It's small, with only about eight tables, so booking is a must. I could have eaten every item on the menu, it all looked fantastic. In the end I had a meaty pate as a starter...More

With wine probably hard to go above GBP30 per head for 3 course Sunday lunch. Service is warm and smiling. Portions are generous. Small menu is always a good sign. Lovely meaty venison bon bons with a hint of tarragon to start and fish cakes....More

It has been a very long time since I have had a meal of this quality and one so reasonably priced. Special mention of the mussels which can be more of a miss than a hit when eating out.... they were the succulent little beauties...More

We were in Newcastle for our Rotary District 1020 Conference from central Scotland. Our President elect had been here before and had booked the venue because he was impressed with it. The place did not disappoint. The staff and the management were so attentive and...More
