Our last visit was during Newcastle restaurant week a couple of years ago and that was a disaster as they were overwhelmed with customers and there were very lengthy delays between courses. This time around, although we visited prior to restaurant week, the place was still packed and we hadn't booked. However staff were very efficient in getting us seated... More

Nine friends booked his restaurant and upon arrival there was a short delay to set the tables We we're shown to our tables by very courteous staff in this very busy restaurant We decided what we wanted and a plate of popadoms help take the edge of our appetites A vast menu was presented with excellent vegetarian options We eventually... I tried this place while on a day trip to Newcastle and was disappointed with the lack of flavour in the tapas dishes, they were rather bland and needed a kick in the pants to waken them, I asked for some green chilli but that didn't really recover them. I was hungry and ate everything but did not really enjoy... More

I've been here quite a few times now with people from work and never really understand what the fuss is about. There are so many amazing Indian restaurants in Newcastle and I don't think this one is that great. Food is nice enough but nothing special and quite expensive for what you get in my opinion.

Called in here to book a last minute table. We were lucky enough to get one with it being a Saturday night. We were seated at a nice table and ordered drinks and poppadoms. After reading though the menu we ordered two starters, two curries a rice and a naan. We enjoyed our poppadoms whilst we waited for our starters.... More

We turned up between Christmas and New Year without booking and wanting a table for 5, they accommodated us within about 15 minutes. We ordered a Lassi and bottles of Cobra (Cobra was flat) then opted for poppadoms while we waited, the dips are very unusual and one in particular was smokey and hot a real treat from the normal... Came here for a family Christmas meal. We've previously eaten here and we were not disappointed on this meal. We all chose from the tapas menu where it is recommended you select 3 tapas and a side dish. There was more that enough food and plenty to sample on another's dishes. The service is extremely prompt and the staff are... More

Ate here for the first time on Friday. We were served by a waitress with short hair and a nose piercing. Despite how bust it was she was an absolute delight and lovely to talk to! The food was delicious as well! All round lovely experience.

Super food. We really like the biryani and the garlic nan bread as an accompaniment. Service was quick and efficient. Prices are reasonable at lunch time.

Been to Dabbawal a few times and and loved the food but my last visit with friends on a November Saturday night was a bit disappointing. We waited a long time between ordering and service and when the mains arrived one of the meals was wrong. Instead of replacing the meal (it would have taken too long) they brought the... More
