Draughty, old-fashioned cafe with hard chairs & revolting cappucino from a packet. Would not return.

I'm most concerned that you didn't enjoy your visit yesterday. If anyone ever has any problem, we endeavour to correct it & funnily enough, no one sent any coffee back here or complained about anything yesterday ?

Whether it's been for coffee and fruit cake or for a more substantial meal of chicken & ham pie and salad, The Stables excels. Its setting is perfect - sufficiently far from the madding crowd - and with Bolam Lake just a few minutes away...More

We have passed the stables on numerous occasions and never stopped. However, we will be visiting more often in future! Really friendly helpful staff. Tasty soup, pies, quiche etc. A good choice of cakes and drinks. A charming stone building.

Yes there is. Be warned though - in the height of summer, when the cyclists are out, they often take up a lot of the outdoor area.

Right next to Bolam Lake, near Belsay in Northumberland, The Stable Coffee Shop is a family run business with lovely food, a warm atmosphere, and extra friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble and it is popular with locals and visitors from further away. It is also a Caravan Club CL site and we would love to stay there if it wasn't only 20 minutes from home!!
