I'm no stranger to paying £20+ for a steak but in this instance, I struggled to understand what I was getting for the money. My family and I all ordered rump steaks with the extra sides (onion rings, mushroom and tomatoes) which to our disappointment were rather chewy (steak) and didn't taste of much despite the addition of peppercorn sauce.... The ambiance was great at the Almanack and our waitress Mariella was top notch. I loved my dinner, well prepared and nice portion size (I had monkfish special with lovely snap peas and potatoes). Will be back

Came here with my dad without high hopes but was embarrassed on behalf of this place. They mixed up our orders, bringing out my dad's starter and main course together. The basic pub food itself was no better than you'd get in a Wetherspoons, while the less conventional pub food was even worse, greasy and disappointing. Have not been back... More

We rang to speak to the Almanack prior to booking to ensure that we are able to pick and choose of the breakfast menu as I am a vegetarian and they stated this was fine. Attending the restaurant and escorted to our table as per normal. The waiter asked if we wanted any drinks and we asked for water and... More

Staff are friendly but prices for coffee at breakfast time are over inflated. Nice atmosphere, pleasant surroundings.

Great bar for meeting up with friends for pre meal drinks, we arranged to meet here before going off to a restaurant. The service and the drinks were spot on, they serve a nice Gin and tonic.

Nice place, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was very average. The curry sauce on the hake was almost non-existent - we actually had to ask for more. We ordered a risotto as a main meal and got a salad! By the time the ordered risotto appeared the other 3 mains were almost cold. The sticky toffee pudding was not... More

It looks 'great', it feels 'great', the menu sounds 'great', it's priced like it is going to be 'great'. The food however is 'good' not 'great'. It's generally above average but with a lack of attention to detail. Service was a little odd. Waitress tried to give a macchiato to the children as a babyccino. Coffee turned up at a... More

Disappointing visit, service very average and tea served with off milk. Fresh tea and milk provided with no comment/apology. Flap jack nice.

Enough said really. No marmite and some doubt if it is ever coming back. Only costs a couple of quid a jar. Very odd. Seems like a deliberate plot against marmite lovers.
