A very disappointing experience. We have eaten here twice before but this time will be our last visit. Informed staff I was gluten free on arrival, waitress seemed to have no idea what on the menu was GF. Offered me the 'allergen matrix' always a...worrying sign in my eyes. When we asked if items could be adapted...she suggested that the chef's 'get a bit shirty about it' In the end there was one starter and two mains that contained no gluten, even many of the steak dishes were not GF. I had a fairly tasteless beetroot and goats cheese salad followed by a bland roast chicken forestiere...my husband's meal ( not GF) was equally average. This restaurant suggests it is a high end, good quality place to eat...it was not an enjoyable experience with very mediocre food. Over hyped and over priced.More

Came here for a work dinner last week in the private room. Was really great, food was a little slow to come out but overall everything was lovely. Our waiter was called Olgario and he was amazing! Really attentive, polite and helpful.

Ambiance The overall ambiance of the restaurant is very good with the amazing panoramic view of the city. Decor Decor is fine but needs upgrading with upholstery and painting. Cleanliness With covid still going the place is not up to standard with the cleanliness. The...mens toilet is reeking with the smell of urine it seems ut hasnt been cleaned for days with that kind of smell. The place is very dusty in corners especially where we are sat by the window where the metal frame of the building is. Window outside and inside needs a good clean and scrub. Food Food is very good especially the butcher steak which i expect to be tough but to my surprise its very tender. Brownies Dessert is amazing. My starter beetroot and egg salad is a bit disappointing as i cant even taste the eggs coz there is only a pinch of eggs crumbles and needs abit of flavouring. Service It was a very disappointing service from a fine dining and full service restaurant. From the start our table is not ready and have to wait for about 25 minutes considering we have to pay a premium for the window sit. Our waiter Olgario needs to go back to basic training. We are sat and never acknowledge or asked for drinks for about 20-25 minutes and nobody checked on us if we have ordered. When our starters arrived we have to ask for our drinks as cant eat with out our drinks cinsidering we are sat for more than 1/2 hr already. Bread plates was not taken out before our starter arrived and not taken out after our starter plates was taken away. Our steak arrived and had a first bite before the knife was replaced by the steak knife. Never offered any condiments and was asked about our food near the end of the dinner. Was given the bill and never asked before if we want some after dinner drinks like tea or coffee so paid and head out somewhere for the coffee. Dont know if this is the kind of service you give to people who take out Groupon voucher. Definitely the 10% service charge is not worth it. You should not charge for that kind of lousy service. Its a shame as the chefs has made a fantastic food to be ruined by poor service. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and will definitely to recommend the place to celebrate as it ruined our day. Dress code expected people to smart casual but seen so many people wearing trainers With this kind of service it is overrated. I would choose The Ivy and Simpsons instead.More

Me and my girlfriend went to this restaurant to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The atmosphere and visual look of the restaurant was stunning the dark lighting amazing views of the city made for a very posh and high class evening which was amazing. The staff...were lovely and very helpful with anything you needed and the bar staff whilst a bit slow made your drinks in a very professional manner. Food however was very mixed for me when compared with the price. My girlfriend had the fillet steak with garlic butter which was very substantial and flavoursome. However for my main I had the ribeye steak (10oz) for £28.50 which can nicely present with a side of chips but wasn’t a flavoursome or substantial to justify the price. I have had much nicer steaks for miller and Carter for half the price so if maybe be selective in what meals you have. Whilst my meal did not meet my expectation my girlfriends food was very nice and as stated the overall atmosphere was fab.More

We visited yesterday . A stunning venue , staff were lovely , however they were flat out to be fair to them . They did their very best , but simply they were overwhelmed ,as they had three private rooms full and they are not...super human . The staff were very apologetic without us prompting them or complaining . My daughter and I had fillet steaks , they were stunning , however i opted for king prawns , which were lovely ,but very small , however I’ve travelled a lot ,so I’m a pretty hard audience . Didn’t think they delivered what I had expected . My husband had the chicken which he said was stunning . We would definitely return .More

Booked a few weeks ago to visit this restaurant whilst we are in Birmingham for the weekend. Long wait to be seated when arriving at booking time. Unable to get a window seat even after emailing but we’re given a nice table. The only problem...is the wait time for food and when you looked around all the tables were waiting for food! For a 7pm booking we didn’t get served our mains until 8.40! Starter was lovely, steak was amazing! Waiter very apologetic!More

Visited with my young child. Refused table service, even though getting to the bar was clearly a problem for me. Bar tender offered to make a lemon squash for my son, despite it not being on the drinks list - nice gesture - but then...tried to charge me £6 for it. Apparently it was a “mocktail” - literally just lemon squash and soda. Hilarious. His colleague then proceeded to look down his nose and snorted at me, as if I couldn’t afford to be there because I was squabbling about having to pay £6 for a small glass of squash for a young child. Enjoyed the view for a while but left before ordering food - not my people!More

I have had the unfortunate pleasure of having breakfast twice at this restaurant during my last visit to Birmingham. They seems to rely on the location and view and not food. The breakfasts were part of my stay at the Indigo and was included in...my stay. I went to have breakfast on my own (two of us could go for breakfast) The continental offering was minute. When I ordered my cooked breakfast - scrambled egg with salmon (£12 but included in my rate), I asked for an sausage. When the server placed my order at the kitchen, the chef shouted to the server that it is extra for the sausage. (We had two breakfasts included in our rate, but only ordered 1 and an additional sausage.) They had quite a loud ‘discussion’ about it. I was sitting in the far corner and could hear this embarrassing conversation, so it was very loud. When the food arrived, the low quality, small sausage was burnt and the toast stone cold. The scrambled egg was a blob, not the quality one would expect from such an establishment, with a bit of what looked like supermarket prepacked salmon offcuts - the type one would use in a quiche. I did not have anything from the limited continental buffet, so the cost implication of the sausage is debatable. And we could order 2 breakfasts that was included in our rate. The next morning I ordered the same and was told about the extra charge for the sausage. I asked how much it was, and was told she didn’t know. I said in that case I’d rather order the full English breakfast which is £6 more expensive (but also included in my rate). During the wait for my food, I could hear the bickering between serving staff, as well as the chef making his views very clear, and very loudly. When my food arrived it was scrambled eggs, salmon and a small sausage. I said I ordered the full English breakfast and send it back, which they weren’t happy with. The quality of food is extremely disappointing, but the quality of service is totally unacceptable. I’ve been frequenting this restaurant annually since the week after they opened years ago. Sometimes with a group of colleagues for an evening meal and always for breakfast. After this last experience, I shall not return. All because of the chef, his attitude and his small, dry sausage and the chip on his shoulder.More

Been going to Marco's on and off for years. Food always been amazing. But this time the food was atrocious. It was our wedding anniversary so was really looking forward to it. We always loved the Calamari but didn't have any so went for the...salad which was a sorry sight. Couple of leaves of wilted Lettuce and a quarter of an egg. Nothing special about it at all. I went for steak. It was the tiniest piece of steak I have ever seen. I asked for medium a d it came well done. There were a few chips but hard and overdone. I've never been in and out of a restaurant within an hour but couldn't wait to see the back of the place. Was so disappointed. It's not a cheap meal so not sure I'll ever risk going back again. Interestingly a couple who we got in the lift with had a worse experience than us so clearly not a one off. You would have thought that given the difficult times we have all been through that restaurants that you'd expect to have quality food delivered quality food and cooking. I must say I've had better meals at a cheap and cheerful Sizzler restaurant. Thought I'd give them the opportunity to redeem themselves by writing to them via the website but heard nothing back. Clearly not bothered by it.More
